I'm done with captureone21 - How do I get my original files plus adjustments out of the session/catlog
I'm done with captureone given the new subscription focus. It is time to move on... How do I get my original photos and adjustment/metadata out of the captureone catalog and/or session. Most of my files are not "in" the catalog but I don't see a way to export the settings and end up with an .xmp file for each raw photo. When I highlight all the files in a catalog or session and do export original, nothing happens. I assume it is due to the relative file relationship. Any help would be appreciated.

I finally figured out that I have to the export from the right hand film strip with the selected files.

However...
You should check that you can get what you want out of this process. You are not able to export .xmp files that contain all the edit data - it is not stored in a format that is available to other raw editors. (Partly because every raw editor has its own features that are not necessarily replicated in others. For instance I don't know of any other app that uses luma ranges with a mask in the way that Capture One does, so there is no way that such an adjustment could be exported in a way that another app could use.
(You can generate an .xmp file for each image, but the information it contains is pretty limited - certainly not full edit data, in fact I think no edit data at all.)

OK, I got the originals exported but the "settings" files are .cos files. Does anyone know how to get a .xmp file? OR was that feature removed when they updated the export feature in captureone 21?

Thanks Ian. I was hoping for photo ratings as a minimum. How do you produce the .xmp?
Thanks!

- Select the images (maybe not too many together)
- main menu > Images > Sync metadata
...will create the xmp files.
There is only one xmp file per image file, if you have more than one variant then the first variant will be used.
