Opening a session on my Macbook that was created on a windows machine

I'm getting the error

 

' The session is read-only. Opening a session requires qrite access to the session document. '

 

When trying to open a session on my macbook that i created using a windows machine. What have I missed. I'm IT competent but new to Mac world.

    Things to try:

    1. Plug the drive into Windows and make sure that the security settings for the device and folders allow update by everyone.

    2. If you've ever updated firmware for Sony cameras on your Mac make sure that you have reset the security settings 

    3. With the drive plugged into the Mac check the permissions (Show Info) to make sure that you have full access.

    Sounds like a permissions issue as LVS alludes to. I would also recommend opening the session locally (copy over and see if you get the same message)
