apture One still of interest to amateur photographers? Am I still in the right place?

There are certainly plenty of landscape photographers using Capture One - see for example Paul Reiffer's channel on YouTube. I'm just a hobbyist, not a Pro, though most interested in wildlife, especially birds.

Yes, Paul Reiffer is certainly a good example. Capture One is also a really good raw converter.
When I look at the advertising in the mails and on Instagram, I get the feeling that the future target group is the professional sector and fashion photography.0 -
Yes Ian, the C1 application can without doubt serve a hobbyist landscape and architecture photographer, the question is rather whether or not this portion in the C1 customer base is big enough to catch the companies goodwill. I guess I'm a niche customer for them, a hobbyist, a perpetual license owner and subscription denier, and a Windows user. I'm not sure either that they care very much.

Is it only the advertising that makes you not welcome and unsafe with C1? Isn't it how camera gear is always sold to us - "look at the pros in the stadium...they use Canikon...feel like a pro and buy our cameras". That's how marketing works, isn't it?
I think C1 is one of the best Raw converters out there in regards to the quality of the output - i just gave Lightroom another try some days ago but was rather disappointed by the out of the box raw conversion compared to C1.
C1 is for sure premium - not only in (most ;-)) of it's functionality but unfortunately also in its pricing. But at least you can still get a perpetual license and use it as long as you want without paying again and again. And of course it is great for landscape photography...not only for fashion. I mean...how many photographers really make a living out of fashion photography? I don't think they are enough to make C1 earn money only with them. ;-) So I am pretty sure that C1 is also interrested in the hobbyist photographer.0 -
Hello Jürgen, thank you very much for your contribution.
I didn't even think about the motivation to advertise the cameras. Of course, that can be good. In addition to the many advertisements for fashion photography, I also notice the heavily advertised thetering, which is also aimed more at professionals.
It is undisputed that Capture One is one of the best raw converters. That's why I use it with enthusiasm.
An improvement of the HDR merging and the panorama functions would be desirable. They are not up to date. Focus stacking and overlaying images are also on my wish list.
I very much hope that Capture One does not forget the breadth of users and, for example, initiates a forum over which the further development can be influenced.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
