Agree and can certainly understand your frustration. Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling? Maybe something's hung up somewhere and a fresh install will clear it? Just tossing ideas ...

You may want to check/verify the catalog (File->Verify Catalog or Session...). Not sure if it'll help but at least you'll know the catalog integrity is fine.
