Ah, seems you have to have edit selected variants button activated? It's now working after doing that.

Yes selected all images and then File > Regenerate Previews. Nothing happens. Tried restarting C1 too.

I had the same issue I raised a support call but they wanted to remotely connect to my Mac and I just didn't have the time available.Like you I also found that renaming after import worked!
