OK, so I want to rename my RAW files after editing but before processing. I could use move to a new folder after editing, open Adobe Bridge, rename them, close Bridge, reopen C-1, do corrections, ...

I agree with everything you said. Lucky for you to be able to use 3.7. Those of us that bought new cameras are stuck with 4 and all of its work-arounds, sigh.
