as usual openCL was the problem. turned it off in preferences and all is working fine

Is OpenCL enabled? If so that may be your problem. To turn off go to prefs>general and under Hardware Acceleration turn both display and processing to NEVER. Hopefully that solves your problem.

I did a clean uninstall of C1 then reinstalled 7.0.2....so far no problems.
