Have you tried 'regenerate thumbs' , I think it's under File . I had a very similar problem and that worked for me.

So...the solution or workaround to my problem was....locate the card on the desktop through the library tab....select all images and move to the capture folder ...then rename them.....SEAMLESS WOR...

After a lot of talking and research it's clear to me that you can't load from a card or tether into version 7 using a new canon .....BRILLIANT !!!!

Thanks I will try. But the processed images have the banding when opened in photoshop, the same file on my old MBP is ok...gotta be the screen I guess.
