New Features and Functionality
Match Look
The Match Look tool uses AI to transfer the look of a reference image to your RAW files. It automatically replicates the look using Capture One’s tools, showing you which adjustments were applied.
For details, see Match Look.
People Masking
People Masking uses AI to quickly mask areas like skin, eyes, eyebrows, lips, and hair with one click.
For details, see AI Masking.
Replace Background with Photoroom API (All in One, Studio)
The Replace Background tool lets you change the background of an image via the Photoroom API. You can also create black-and-white JPEGs based on alpha channel, ideal for use as masks in external applications. A Photoroom API subscription is required to produce images without watermarks. This feature is in beta and available for macOS Sessions in the All in One and Studio plans.
For details, see Replace Background with Photoroom API (All in One, Studio).
Cloud Settings (All in One, Studio)
With Cloud Settings, you can manage and sync Export Recipes, Shortcuts, Workspaces, and Styles across desktop and mobile devices. Available in the All in One and Studio plans.
For details, see Cloud Settings (All in One, Studio).
Content Credentials (Studio, All in One)
Content Credentials allow you to embed editing history into exported JPEG and TIFF images, showing what happened to an image in the software while preserving any previously embedded Content Credentials. This allows you to assess the content’s trustworthiness by providing transparency into its creation and modification.
Content Credentials are integrated as specified by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA).
For details, see Content Credentials (All in One, Studio), https://contentcredentials.org/, and https://c2pa.org.
User Experience and Performance Improvements
Improvements to Client Viewers (Studio)
Client Viewers now support toggling Grids, Guides, Overlay tools, AI crop rules, and Before/After views. Display multiple images using Follow Selected and Pin Selected modes, and control the modes via AppleScript on macOS.
For details, see Client Viewers (Studio).
Improvements to Tethering
The Camera tool displays options to start an in-app tutorial and a link to a troubleshooting article if no camera is connected.
When a camera is connected or disconnected, a sound will play. This can be disabled by going to Settings > Notifications.
The Capture button on your toolbar indicates whether a camera is connected or disconnected.
On macOS, if a connected camera has a non-empty memory card, the Camera Tool will notify you if the connection is slowed down by macOS. This is a known macOS limitation related to Spotlight indexing that we can’t work around.
Error messages have been rephrased for clarity, with new messages added for unsupported or busy cameras.
For details, see Tethering with a supported camera.
ProRAW to ProStandard Switch
Before version 16.5.0, taking a photo with your iPhone meant being stuck with a ProRAW image. Similarly, capturing a photo through the Capture One mobile app’s camera locked you into a ProStandard image. Capture One 16.5.0 lets you switch between ProRAW and ProStandard in the Base Characteristics Tool.
For details, see Apple ProRAW Support.
Camera support
- Canon R100: file support, wired and wireless tethering, Live View.
- Fujifilm X-M5: file support, wired and wireless tethering, Live View.
For details, see Camera Models and RAW Files Supported by Capture One.
Bug Fixes
General
- Fixed an issue where copy from clipboard didn't transfer masks.
- Fixed an issue where Live View was pixelated for Canon R5 and R5 Mark II when zooming in.
- Fixed an issue with Japanese translations.
macOS
- Fixed an issue where use of non-standard characters like Ä Ö Ü on import lead to broken file names and wrong import destination.
- Fixed an issue where Viewer focus jumped to the first image in a selection.
- Fixed an issue where Client Viewer didn't show the Compare Variant.
- When opening files through Finder on a Mac desktop (via right-click -> Open With -> Capture One) the app no longer prompts to select a Session or Catalog, if one has been previously opened.
- Improved performance of the app when opening an image through the filesystem from within a folder that contains many other images.
Windows
- Fixed an issue where Vignetting changed its Method after restarting the app.

Recommendations and Limitations
Note: The information provided here is subject to change and unintentional errors may occur. For any queries or further clarification, please contact support at https://support.captureone.com/
General Guidelines
- Browsing folders containing unsupported image files may affect application performance.
- Previews from earlier versions of Capture One may be updated, which can affect the application performance the first time images are viewed in this version.
- Using a non-US laptop keyboard might require changing some of the standard keyboard shortcuts.
- Editing images in external applications other than Adobe Photoshop might result in unexpected behavior.
- Operating under virtualization software (e.g., Parallels, Hackintosh, etc.) may cause instability. These OS configurations are not recommended.
- Some cameras provide multishot functionality by way of multiple exposures or pixel shifting. In most cases, this functionality will not be available in Capture One. However, a single RAW file from the “stack” may be viewable and editable in Capture One (as if it was a shot in single Capture mode).
- Special or auxiliary modes (like pixel shift) are only supported if noted. If the information provided is incomplete or you need specific information pertaining to support in Capture One, kindly reach out to Capture One Support at captureone.com/support.
File Support
- HEIC/HEIF support: Capture One supports HEIC/HEIF 8-bit files to the extent that the operating system supports the files. If you are on a Windows computer, you might need to download the two extensions “HEVC Video Extensions” and “HEIF Image Extensions” from Microsoft to enable support in Capture One.
- Capture One DNG colors: DNG files from camera models with native support in Capture One will per default have their native Capture One colors applied. DNG files from camera models that are not natively supported in Capture One will have generic DNG Standard colors applied. Adjustments and settings from other applications embedded in DNG files are not supported.
- Other file support: TIF/JPG/PSD/PNG files that are not in RGB color space cannot be adjusted within Capture One and will be read-only. Layered Tiff and PSD files can be supported for viewing purposes only. Reprocessing the image will result in a new flattened image.
- File size limitations: The smallest supported file for viewing has a minimum side of 16 pixels. The smallest supported file for editing has a minimum side of 512 pixels. The largest supported file is 715 megapixels or 65,000 pixels on the longest edge.
Known Issues
- You can find a list of known bugs in a dedicated community forum topic titled Known Bugs. Note that this list may not be up to date on the day of a new Capture One version release.

Capture One Pro won't have any of the news?
Why is there no masking of teeth like in Lightroom/ACR?
Since people are usually smiling in photographs I think that this is an oversight.
Masking people is great, I mainly use lightening of faces and eyes in group photos, now it's simple and fast, great!
he descargado la ultima actualizacion y al principio a funcionado pero luego no se que a pasado que a desaparecido
GMeo4k If the feature isn’t explicitly stated to be available only in All in One or Studio, it’s available in Pro. We’ll try to clarify this in articles. Thanks!

Shameful, the Lumix S9 is still not supported!
Denis, why did you omit release date at the beginning of this release notes? In previous notes you have written e.g. "Released on September 26, 2024, ...".
Please add release date here, and continue the good work in the future ;)
