PROBLEM
I have bought a new computer. How do I move Capture One to it? I don't have the original installation disks or a download file.
SOLUTION
1. Follow the instructions in the article on how to deactivate Capture One on the old machine either from the application or on the Capture One website.
2. All of your workspaces and presets can be copied to the new machine from the locations indicated below if you wish to migrate them.
On macOS: /User/Library/Application Support/Capture One
Note the user-level Library folder is hidden by default in macOS. To access it easily, open Finder and select Go > Go to Folder.
In that field, paste ~/Library/Application Support/Capture One
On Windows: C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\CaptureOne
NOTE: AppData is hidden by default on Windows. Learn how to show hidden folders on Windows.
Then copy the contents of the Capture One folder and save them on the external drive, for instance.
3. Install Capture One on another computer and activate it using the license key for the corresponding product variant.
NOTE: If you see an error related to "profile is incorrect" or "activation limit exceeded", refer to the "Login" section of your profile to reset activation keys or check product key validity under "Software License."
4. If you need to keep your workflow after migrating from one computer to another, you have to safely move your Capture One files from one machine to another.

- The self-contained nature of a Session makes it an ideal choice when transferring images from one computer to another. A Session can be also moved to an external drive for storage or archiving, freeing up the local disk space. Learn how to move Sessions easily.

Hi Lily,
I've done this as described moving from a PC to a Mac Studio, and although the files are there for my workspaces, presets, styles, etc., those elements aren't showing up in Capture One. Any thoughts?

Surely it would be much simpler to have a function where you can export these settings?
I'm trying this going from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and there is no Capture one folder under the Local tab. I have show hidden files turned on. How is this done in Wndows 11? Thanks
Edit I've figured out what was wrong
Moving Capture One to a new computer i.e. a PC questions-
My thinking is if I install C1 on the new machine with all of the image files (sessions, cataloges, etc.), appdata and info files pre-copied to the new machine then the C1 install will be the same as an upgrade on the old machine. Not knowing exactly how C1 uses these files on a new vs. update install, my thinking could be wrong.
1. Should the image files (sessions and catalogs) be moved before installing Capture One on the new machine or afterward? Does it matter?
2. Does it make sense to copy the "AppData Local" C1 files before installing the C1 Application so as to preserve my presets, styles, workspaces, etc. Or is it better (necessary) to do so after installation?
3. What about the other Capture One folder in "AppData Local" the one with the "CaptureOne.exe_StrongName_y3yh4brhpfi14u41fltdrpfruizxirsn" files? I have fifteen years of updates here. should I copy them all to the new machine before installing C1? Or does only the latest one matter?
Thanks for your help.
