There are several reasons why Capture One might suddenly deactivate, requiring you to reactivate the software.
Case 1: Hardware configuration has changed
If your computer has been upgraded or its hardware configuration has changed, Capture One will prompt you to reactivate.
Solution:
- Enter your product key again when prompted.
- If you’ve used up all activations, you can reset them in your Capture One account: How to reset activations online
Case 2: Hardware ID changed unexpectedly
Sometimes, plugging in or unplugging external devices (like hard drives) can trigger a hardware ID change, which might confuse the activation system.
Solution: Same as Case 1 — re-enter your product key and reset activations if needed.
Case 3: All activations were manually reset
If you’ve manually reset activations via your account, or if Support has done so at your request, all instances of Capture One will be deactivated.
Solution: Reactivate Capture One using your license key.
