You have three different thumbnail view options in Browser to suit your personal preferences:
- Filmstrip
- Grid View
- List View
Choose your preferred thumbnail view option from the Image Browser toolbar.
Filmstrip View
The Filmstrip View leaves more space for the Image Viewer and supports a fast workflow for Sessions with fewer images. Adjust the size of the thumbnails by dragging the browser window up or down. This will make the size of the thumbnails adapt automatically to fit the selected browser size.
Grid View
Grid View is ideal to browse numerous images quickly especially when using the arrow keys to scroll UP/DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT.
List View
The List View displays more file information (such as aperture and shutter speed settings) and provides a sequential view of the images in a folder or album.
The Image Browser will show thumbnails as they are edited along with the entire view and mask if the image is cropped. Use the Image Browser to navigate an image collection and to select files. A number of actions can be performed in the Image Browser (including adding a star rating and color tag and the use of the Loupe function to examine thumbnails in close-up detail).
It is easy to maximize the Image Browser by hiding the Viewer. Simply select View -> Viewer to toggle it off. Select View -> Viewer again to add the Viewer.
Sorting images
Another key component of the Browser is sorting images. You can click the sort icon to change the order of which your images are displayed.
By default this is set to "Date" – but can be changed to the following:
Name, Rating, Color Tag, Camera Lens, ISO, Focal Length, Width, Height, File Size, Exported, Aperture, Shutter Speed, Extension, Sequence ID, and Manual
In Preferences (Mac: Capture One > Preferences, Win: Edit > Preferences) you can set your own default sort order and sort direction under the General tab.

Is there a shortcut we can create that will easily toggle between Grid View and Filmstrip? So far, all I can find is Viewer On/Off.
I'm looking at an option wherein I can switch from Grid View to Viewer + Filmstrip on the bottom, much like how I used to do it with Lightroom.
Hi Iannoel,
Thank you for the comment.
Currently, there are no such shortcuts for switching between the Browser modes.
However, there is a couple of similar feature requests related to this functionality.
Thus, I will also forward your suggestions to the Product Management team for further consideration.
Hello, I cannot find the option to change browser default sort in Windows (Capture One 21). I have the viewer 'zoom with scroll wheel' check box but then no browser default options.
Olá, é possível colocar a barra do navegador em baixo em vez do lado direito?
