How can I delete/remove duplicate Style Packs?

QUESTION

I have accidentally installed multiple copies of the same Style Pack. How can I efficiently remove them?

 

ANSWER

Mac

You can remove individual styles from within Capture One as outlined here: Deleting a Style. However, sometimes it's just easier from Finder. To do so, open Finder and select Go -> Go To Folder from the menu bar. You can also press Cmd+Shift+G.

In that resulting window, copy/paste the following:

~/Library/Application Support/Capture One/Styles/

This will take you straight to the Styles folder. You can then remove or delete the .costyles or style packs (folders). Be sure that you want to delete them before emptying your system Trash!

The next time you launch Capture One, the updated list of styles will be shown.

 

 

Windows

You can delete duplicate style packs by deleting the associated folder in Windows Explorer, at your User folder \User\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\Styles or \User\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\Styles50. The list will reflect the change once you restart Capture One.

 

NOTE: If you do not see the AppData folder - that is because Windows hides it by default.

Follow the steps below to show hidden folders on Windows.

 

Windows 7

  1. Go to Windows Explorer.
  2. Open the C: drive.
  3. Click Organize on the menu bar.
  4. Select Folder and Search options.
  5. Select the View tab.
  6. Under Files and Folders > Hidden files and folders, select the option Show hidden files, folders and drives.
  7. Click OK.

 

Windows 8, 10

  1. From the Start Screen, select Windows Explorer as shown in the image below.

  2. Then click on the View tab. You will see a screen similar to the one below.

  3. Put check-marks in the checkbox labeled Hidden items.

    Deleting Custom Styles Duplicates - the Unix type workaround works fine but the menu option code needs checked for bugs please. Newer users may not understand the guts of Unix and how to work in there without causing unrecognised damage.

    Hi, I can not find the folder to delete the duplicate styles.

    If I delete one folder inside the program, the styles are gone but the "title" for the style pack is still there?

    I have the same problem as Magnus. I can not find the folder to delete the duplicate styles. Does anyone know how to solve this?
