There are a few reasons why images do not export, or cannot be exported. This article will help to explain why this might be the case, what can cause it and how to prevent it from happening in the future.
The Batch Queue is stopped
The Export Queue is a list of export tasks, which is populated based on the Variants selected for exporting and also the Export Recipes being used.
The queue can also be paused. When this is the case, variants can be added to the queue but the exporting will remain stopped. When an image is in the queue, the thumbnail will have an orange Export icon, like so:
To restart the Export Queue, navigate to the Tool Tabs and click the '...' icon on the far-right and then add the 'Export' Tool Tab to your Workspace
You will find the Export Queue at the bottom of the scrollable area of the Tool Tab.
To resume exporting, navigate to the Export Queue tool and click 'Start' - every image in the queue will be processed based on the selected Export Recipe. Individual export jobs can be removed by selecting the image and then pressing backspace on your keyboard.
The Export Queue is being held up by a corrupt file
Sometimes, the Export Queue can be fed a corrupt image or file that will cause it to hang, and prevent further files from being processed. In this case, you should clear the batch queue. This can be done in the application via the Export Tool's dropdown menu, or by removing individual photo exports.
Go to Export Queue > '...' > Clear Queue
Click on the problematic export and press the backspace key to remove that job from the queue
If this doesn't resolve it, you can manually clear the Export Queue by deleting its cache folder from disk. This is located at:
- ~/Library/Application Support/Capture One/Batch Queue (macOS, use Finder > Go to Folder to access quickly)
- %appdata%/Local/Capture One/Batch Queue (Windows)
Restart Capture One and the queue will be cleared.
A Recipe has become corrupt
It's a rare occurrence, but Export Recipes can become corrupt. Creating a new one from scratch will bypass this issue.
Test if a recipe has become corrupt by trying a different one and checking the results.
An Export Recipe is not enabled
When the Export Recipe is highlighted in the Export Recipes tool, it means that is the active Export Recipe.
Ensure that the recipe you want to use is ticked and also highlighted in orange, like in the screenshot below.
If there is no checkmark next to the highlighted recipe in the Export Recipes tool, there will be a warning as shown below. Tick the Export Recipe to enable it and proceed with exporting.
'Edit All Selected Variants' is not enabled
Go to Image > Edit All Selected Variants and ensure that there is a checkmark next to this option.
If remained unticked, then only your primary variant (the one selected in the browser) will be exported, and not any other images that you have selected for exporting.
