I need to process files with a different naming format, but the file names do not change when I change the process recipe. How can I have different filenames for different process recipes?
Since the Output Naming tool is document-wide (that is, particular to the session or catalog), it is necessary to use tokens. This will result in filenames that are dynamically updated based on the process recipe that generated them.
Using [Recipe Name]
Using the [Recipe Name] token, the recipe's name will be passed to the output file. For example, this will result in a TIFF file named 'TIFF_for_Print_image001.tif', and a JPG file named 'JPG_for_Facebook_image001.jpg'
Note that the Output Naming sample matches the selected (highlighted) recipe.
Using [Sub Name]
The [Sub Name] token offers a bit more flexibility since the Sub Name field can itself have tokens. The Sub Name fields are per-recipe and are found under the File tab. For example, this will result in a TIFF named '201911_image001.tif' (where 201911 is passed from the image's EXIF capture Year and Month) and a JPG named 'ForFacebook_image001.jpg' (where 'forFacebook' is static text, not a token):
Sub Name obviously offers more control and is recommended.
