I have an older Capture One version. How can I update it to the latest one?
The update process for Capture One is the same as a full, new installation; there is no "patch" process.
Once a minor release comes out (for instance, 12.1.4), you just need to download it from your account on Capture One website - https://www.captureone.com/en/account/download. If you have a license or subscription for Capture One, it will work for the major release as well as for all other minor release versions onwards (for instance, Capture One Pro 12 license will work for all versions starting with 12, e.g. 12.0.1, 12.0.2...). As Capture One licenses are backward compatible, you can activate the earlier versions of the software. Check the table below for more details on backward compatibility.
|Capture One 7 or older||Not supported by software||Can activate any version of Capture One that is older than the purchased license version|
|Capture One 8,9,10,11||Legacy subscriptions are supported since Capture One 8 onward and allow customers to use Capture One from version 8 to the latest one. No longer sold.|
|Capture One 11.3.2 or newer||Fastspring subscriptions are supported since Capture One 11.3.2 onward and allow customers to use Capture One from the version 11.3.2 to the latest one. Except for Sony/Fuji subscriptions that are supported from Capture One 12.|
If you want to upgrade your software when a major release comes out (Capture One 11.x => Capture One 12.x), you will have to upgrade your license - https://www.captureone.com/store/upgrade. A perpetual license upgrade is always optional, so you can continue using the current version of the software you own. With a subscription plan, you can always upgrade to the latest version of the software at no extra cost.
