IMPORTANT: You need to be online to activate Capture One trial.
1. Download fully-featured 30-days Capture One trial
2. If you already have an account with Capture One, you will be requested to update your information.
If you are a new user, you will be asked to create an account.
3. Then you will be provided with a download file and a license key (16-character alpha-numeric code) which you will see on the screen and get in the e-mail.
NOTE: You will have 10 days to activate Capture One trial with the license key provided to you upon download. Capture One will send you a reminder if you have not activated the trial key yet.
4. After downloading and installing Capture One Express, you will have to launch it. Just enter your license key provided upon download along with the e-mail address associated with your profile on captureone.com and select Get Profile.
5. Enter the password associated with your profile on captureone.com and press OK. If you don't remember the password, click E-mail My Password to have a password reset link sent to your e-mail address. Otherwise, press OK. Then the information will be automatically retrieved from our profile server. Afterwards, press Activate.
6. You can now use Capture One Pro trial. Press Done.
Capture One trial license key will be active within 30 days from the moment the software was first activated on any of your workstations. After that period, Capture One trial will be deactivated on all your workstations.
IMPORTANT: The 30-days trial period cannot be extended.
7. You will be able to use Capture One Pro trial license key on 3 machines. Check the number of available activations in your account on captureone.com or from inside the application Capture One -> License / Help -> License (macOS/Windows).
IMPORTANT: If you decide to test another product variant after the 30-days trial period expires, you will get the following message in your account.

I chose the option to activate offline but in going through the activation process I found that I had to go online in order to get the activation key, so much for supposedly activating offline. For the record, my workstation that I use for my photography does not have the ability to go online. Guess I am stuck using my old versions of Photoshop and Lightroom...

Please consider that Capture One trial can be activated only online.
However, the offline activation is possible for Capture One Pro/(for Sony)/for Fujifilm/for Nikon with the perpetual license.
I have downloaded the trial, but I didn't get a trial key, and can't find a way to request one. When I login to my account in the application I only get "Enter your license code below" and when I click "Don't have a license code?" it sends me back to the download webpage.

Then click on the Manage Licenses section. You will see your Capture One trial license listed there.

Please, check your e-mail box, including spam and advertising folders, to find the e-mail from Capture One with the license code for Capture One Pro trial.
If that did not work, please log in to your account on captureone.com website, then go to the main page www.captureone.com, and click "Try it free" in the upper-right corner of the screen.
You will be redirected to the trial download page, click Download and you should see your trial code then.

I'm trying to login with my trail key. However when i try to press 'Get Profile' it fails stating 'unable to connect to server' and when i run the diagnostics i get the below error.

This error is common for many Windows 7 users as our security system uses TLS 1.2 protocol. Meanwhile, this protocol is not enabled on Windows 7 by default, so creating a secure SSL/TLS is not possible.
Thus, you have to enable them manually. Please proceed with the instructions outlined in this article:

Hi, I am asking for instructions on how to activate the Capture One 20 for Nikon license when the trial license is activated? I cannot enter my full license code in the license window.
Do I have to wait for the 30-day trial version?

You will have to deactivate the trial license first.
Go to the main menu and select Capture One -> License (Mac) or Help -> License (Windows), then click Deactivate in the window.
Afterwards, relaunch Capture One and enter your license key for Capture One for Nikon.
