I can't activate Capture One as I'm receiving an error that the remote name could not be resolved. How can I fix this and activate the software?
This error appears when you are trying to activate Capture One and the activation server cannot be reached. Typically this is due to:
- A firewall is blocking the communication to activation.phaseone.com from Capture One.
- There is something re-routing the request to another address.
Typically, disconnecting and reconnecting your internet connection will resolve it. Sometimes, it will require a full router reset (this will refresh the DNS used).
If that does not resolve it, please follow the steps below.
Step 1. Open the Terminal (macOS) / Command line (Windows).
For macOS users
Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
For Windows users
Open the command line by pressing Windows+R and type “cmd” (without brackets). Then click OK.
Step 2. Copy and paste the following in the Terminal/Command line.
This will give you the IP address which is not 0.0.0.0. There should not be an error message.
Note the address in parentheses.
