    This instructions didn't work...

    "CAPTURE" this:

    - Open hosts file in: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
    - With some notepad and if you have "activation.phaseone.com", just delete this file.
    - Now open capture and it should see your profile now

    Hi Michal,

    Thank you for the comment.

In case you have the license key for Capture One Express, then please note that this key can be used to activate the software only on 1 computer. If you have previously used it to activate Capture One on another computer, please deactivate it there first and then activate on the current computer.

I have the same issue with Capture one 20, accessing the license server.
I have followed the instructions and got the following:

    Hi Alon,

    Thank you for the comment.

As far as I see, your issue was already resolved by following the directions provided in this article:

"Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel" activation error on Windows 7

I still can not open CO. I have also reset my tcip stack with no good results. I have photography work backing up. This is completely unacceptable. Never before have I had any issue with opening up CO. I pay for the Pro license and there's not even a phone number to call anyone.

    Hi Scott,

Please let me know which operating system are you currently running?

Also, which error is shown when you are trying to activate Capture One?

    Scott,

See Lily's post above your first post.

I had exactly the same situation about that time.

Server changes related to security matters are using settings that Win 7 does not normally have activated.

The instructions in the linked document in Lily's post mean the important one (or they of you wish) can be set up in a few minutes and all will be well.

    I hope this helps.

Neither of the described above helps - pinging, SSL/TSL, etc. Still dead-end. I run Win7.

    Hi Anna,

Make sure that you do not run VPN and that firewall is not blocking your connection.

Try to change the network and activate Capture One once again.

Hi, I have the same problem with my fujifilm express license. I was using the product (version 20) for some time without any problem. Since today, I was not able to validate the license. I tried to uninstall it and install the newer version (21). I also tried different wifi. I do not have VPN. I also deactivate my activation, so I should be able to activate the new one.

Guys I’ve found a fix. Just right click capture one and click on “troubleshoot” use “recommended settings” then “test” mine kept giving the server error but is running smooth now.

Still a problem for me and Win 7 and the same errors most have had with connecting to the server.  I use CO Express for Sony. I have gone back and forth with a rep named Denis Huk (Lily, maybe he can send you the e-mails) since December 14th and he has had suggestions by sending me to the help articles after he got the system info and what product I had. I've tried the TLS set up, etc. I was glancing through this forum and just wanted to mention how disappointed I've been that the customers have even had to go through all this.  Yes...I will upgrade soon, but still concerned that CO will once again fail when I get my new PC & Windows update (and yes...will remember to deactivate on the current PC and try to enable on a new). I know I may be your least sophisticated PC customer, but this has been exhausting for others, too, it seems. By the way Lily, some help articles won't mention that the Express product may not work for a certain fix or suggestion, but I've noticed that you are very good at making side-bar notes that something may not work the same way with Express. Thank you for that.

    Mary,

I resolved the Windows 7 server access problem as noted above in my previous post.

It has, reportedly, worked for several others of our "hold out on Windows 7" community.

I think, however, the V21 update and anything that follows will be increasingly less capable using Win 7 since it is no longer supported. In fact in beta testing shortly before the final release I was having problems getting C1 to load up after the splash screens, etc.

In the end I have left my old machine alone for now and and obtained a new Win 10 machine. I had no problems installing and activating Capture One, albeit version 20 for now as I undertake comparative tests.

Becoming familiar with Win 10, discovering how this device handles colour profiles and general discovery what 8 years of technology development is offering me is slightly more challenging on first meeting. Most of it is easy and logical - but there can be a few surprises. Windows in general rather than Windows only related to Capture One.

Thank you SFA,  Are you referencing the TLS set-up?  Did that and did it again for TLS1.1 per a suggestion. I sent a screen shot to the poor guy (Denis) last week.  He wanted to check my spelling. If it turns out to be spelling I will be red-faced, but happy still.

Thank you again for the reply to help and the heads up for the color profile in Win 10.

Hi. I bought a Capture One license 2 days ago and haven't been able to activate it since then. When I try the launcher says "unable to connect to server to lookup profile". I have desactivated the firewall, restarted my computer, restarted the modem,  uninstalled and reinstalled C1 twice, waited to see if it was indeed a server problem, but nothing works. I tried this method and, surprise surprise, it didn't work either. When I copy paste the code I recive a message saying "the ping solicitude could not find the activation.phaseone.com. Check the name and try again". PLEASE, can someone here solve this problem so that I can use the software that I BOUGHT?

    Hi Rodrigo,

Which Capture One version are you using?

What operating system do you have?

Have you checked the hosts file?

Lily, I bought capture one 21. I have windows 10. And I don't know what "hosts files" are nor what I should be checking on them. Can you walk me through it? I've checked all the other sugestions like firewall, reinstall C1, restart my internet modem, etc. The only one I haven't done is this one because I don't know how
