When purchasing an upgrade, your old key (the one used to purchase the upgrade) becomes immediately disabled.
You are then provided with a new (upgraded) key. However, this key is not limited to the version you upgraded to. It can also be used to activate older versions of Capture One.
For example, if you have upgraded to Capture One Pro 21 from Capture One Pro 12, then you can use your Capture One 21 license key to activate any previous version of Capture One Pro.
If you have a Capture One Fujifilm / (for Sony) / for Nikon key, then you can only activate previous versions of Capture One Fujifilm / (for Sony) / for Nikon and not Capture One Pro.
If you are on a subscription plan, you do not need to purchase upgrades. Your license key can activate an older version of Capture One up to version 8. See the table below on the compatibility of subscription keys.
|Purchased before November 29, 2018||Legacy subscriptions (purchased prior to Fastspring providing our e-shop) are supported since Capture One 8 onward and allow customers to use Capture One from version 8 to the latest one. No longer sold.|
|Purchased after November 29, 2018||Fastspring subscriptions are supported since Capture One 11.3.2 onward and allow customers to use Capture One from version 11.3.2 to the latest one. Except for Sony/Fujifilm subscriptions that are supported from Capture One 12. Nikon subscriptions are available from version 20 (13.1.0).|
