- Switching from Capture One Pro perpetual to subscription license
- Switching from Capture One branded perpetual (Fujifilm, Sony, Nikon) to Capture One Pro subscription license
- Purchasing subscription additionally to perpetual license
I would like to switch from Capture One Pro perpetual to subscription license
If you are a Capture One Pro perpetual license holder, one of the options you will see in the upgrade store is "Switch to subscription". Upon this switch, your old key (associated with the perpetual license) gets deactivated automatically and you receive a new subscription license key. It will not be possible to revert back to the perpetual license later as your key will be deactivated.
I have a perpetual license for the Capture One brand product variant (Fujifilm, Sony, Nikon)
In the upgrade store, one of the options is to upgrade/switch to the subscription for Capture One Pro.
NOTE: When you proceed with the switch to Capture One Pro subscription, you will get access to the latest version of the Pro product variant. Your old key (associated with the perpetual license) gets deactivated upon the switch and you get a new license key accordingly. It will not be possible to revert back to the perpetual license as your key will no longer be active.
PRICING: When upgrading from a branded perpetual license (Fuji, Sony or Nikon) to a Capture One Pro subscription, a 30% discount will apply to the first yearly payment of your subscription.
I already have a perpetual license but would like to try the subscription-based license model without losing access to my perpetual license.
I do not want to upgrade but would like to purchase a subscription for Capture One Pro separately.
In case you decide to get a subscription license along with the perpetual license, both license keys will remain valid so that you can use any of them to activate the corresponding product variant.
The subscription should be obtained through our web store instead of the upgrade store in this case.

What exactly does "One-time payment to own a license for Capture One Pro 22" mean in clear English? What exactly does "own a license" mean in clear English? Does own a license mean that I would own the license to Capture One Pro 22 in perpetuaty? What upgrades would be included, specifiacally if Apple created a chip after M1 Ultra, would I be able to use C1 Pro 22?

I see now a letter from Capture One where they are preparing to kill off the perpetual license option. This is sad as it was precisely the reason I left Adobe - subscription-slavery. I have bought the upgrades along the way so it’s not like they haven’t enjoyed cashflows from my perpetual license. It’s just I had a bit more freedom to not upgrade or to delay upgrades when there is an insufficient value proposition for the upgrade on offer. This is what they don’t like. They want to force us to either continue to pay - regardless of our situation- or have our license completely turned off. This is how you extract revenue from the base even when your particular upgrades don’t interest them - thus the - subscription slavery notion. I’m very disappointed in this move and I will likely drop C1 and just use the Nikon freeware or go back to Adobe - if I have no way to escape a subscription. This is a classic bait and switch as you guys made a big deal at the beginning as offering a choice of either license model. You aimed to lure unhappy Lightroom users who didn’t like subscriptions. Now that they have moved you pull the same unpleasant trick. Anyway - thanks for the ride I enjoyed your software while it lasted…
