Pixelz provides retouching using templates tailored to each customer’s production requirements. It is designed for studios that need consistent, high‑quality results across large volumes of images, while still relying on expert human review.
When integrated with Capture One Actions, Pixelz becomes part of the capture workflow. Images are sent directly from Capture One into Pixelz specifications without manual uploads, allowing retouching work to start immediately after capture or export.
Pixelz specifications are created and maintained in Pixelz. Capture One Actions reference those specifications and control how and when images are sent, keeping setup centralized and usage simple.

Setting up the Pixelz Connector
Setting up Pixelz with Capture One Actions is done by studio administrators and follows a clear sequence: configure the Connector, create Actions, and validate the setup.
Step 1: Configure the Pixelz Connector
- Sign in to your Capture One account and open the web‑based administration platform.
- Navigate to the section for managing connectors and Actions.
- Choose Pixelz and click Connect.
-
Enter your Pixelz API key.
- Save the Connector.
Step 2: Create Pixelz Actions
Once the Pixelz Connector is registered, you can create Actions based on the Pixelz specifications defined in your Pixelz account. These specifications are created and maintained in Pixelz, typically during onboarding with the Pixelz team, and are tailored to each customer’s production requirements.
-
Select Add Action in the administration platform.
- Enter an action name. This name is for internal use and does not need to match the Pixelz specification.
- Set Service to Pixelz.
- Select a Specification from the dropdown list. This list shows all specifications available in your Pixelz account.
After selecting a specification, you can configure parameters that control how information is sent from Capture One to Pixelz. Parameters can be defaulted by administrators or made editable so Capture One users can set them per image or variant.
Pixelz Actions support multiple parameter types:
-
Image references
Add up to four image reference parameters. These allow additional images to be sent alongside the main image, such as detail shots, labels, or interior garment views. -
Custom fields
Add text fields, text areas, number fields, or image fields to pass additional data into the Pixelz workflow, as supported by the Pixelz API.
Once configured, select Create Action to save the Action in draft mode. Draft Actions are visible only to administrators and are used for testing.
After testing is complete, select Publish to make the Action available to all users within the account. Published Actions appear automatically inside Capture One.
Example 1: Footwear retouching during capture
Scenario
A studio is shooting footwear for e‑commerce and wants retouched previews during the shoot. The goal is to confirm texture preservation, background cleanup, and overall finish before wrapping the set.
A Pixelz footwear retouching specification has already been configured by studio administrators.
How it is done in Capture One
- Open the session in Capture One.
- Add the Actions tool to the workspace.
-
Refresh Actions tool to show the published Actions.
- Select the Footwear retouching Action.
-
Enable Export Actions and configure your Export Recipe settings. You can also enable it using Next Capture Actions.
- Hit Export button in the Export Recipes tool. Alternatively, continue shooting while images are sent to Pixelz in batch.
Result
Images are sent automatically to Pixelz under the correct specification.
Retouched previews return while the shoot is still active, allowing the team to validate quality and adjust if needed.
Example 2: On-model retouching with product grouping
Scenario
A fashion studio is shooting on‑model apparel that requires grouping by product ID, background replacement, and color correction using reference images. These requirements are defined as part of the Pixelz onboarding.
How it is done in Capture One
- Select the images to be processed and the Export Recipe to be used.
- Pick the On Model Configurable Pixelz Action.
- Enter the required product ID.
- Add color reference images using the Action’s image reference parameters.
- Trigger the Action via Export.
Result
Images are grouped correctly in Pixelz and processed according to the agreed specification. Retouchers receive structured inputs, and production moves forward without clarification cycles.
