Hi Adrian Gyger – this camera won't make it into Capture One 22. But we're certainly open to it in future versions if the demand is there (seems it is)

    Hi Jack,
Thank you for your answer. Hopefully it will make it into CO 23, even if not from the start…

Hi Adrian Gyger – could you please open a support ticket regarding this? Please title it 'FAO Jack' and we'll get back to you on this.

For the expected support of the a7R V in this November, will Capture One 22 (as it is the 2022 version) also be included in the RAW support?

I can confirm that camera support will *not* be retrospectively added to Capture One 22.

    Hi Jack,

Any chance the Ricoh GR3x will be supported soon?

    Thanks!

Suggestion: If C1 software could download camera raw file support and lens support (similar to DXO Optics modules) and you would implement a version check then you could entitle the latest C1 version which was available when the camera or lens became available in the shops to support it.

    E.g.

    • C1 version 16.3 released in October 2023
    • CameraX hit the market in November 2023
    • C1 commits to implement support for this camera in near future, for 16.3 and higher
    • C1 CameraX support ready in Feb. 2024
    • Then 16.3 and future versions could download and use this cameraX module from Feb 2024

Benefit: Once C1 commitment is out, customers can buy or upgrade to version 16.3, no doubts on customers side to which version to upgrade to or when to upgrade, no need for money reimbursement procedures, C1 makes early revenue and has happy customers,

Don't know how (technically) feasible this could be for tethering support though.

Jacques Linssen I've followed up with the camera team. Any chance this is the same file type as the GR3? Have you tried importing?

BeO Thanks for the suggestion and the feedback. There's many aspects to implementing camera support and we try to be as open as possible without revealing too much sensitive information. Feel free to submit a feature request here: https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/360000154057-Feature-Requests

    Thanks Jack!

C1 can "sort of" open the DNGs from the GR3X. However, there are serious issues:

    • White balance and colours are completely off
    • Noise is horrendous
    • In addition, the GR3x has a different lens than the GR3, which might require different correction

I have done some checks, and these seem to point to a C1-issue:

    • With other software (Rawtherapee, Darktable, Affinity Photo) the GR3x-files have accurate colours/white balance, and none of the noise visible in C1
    • When I manually change the Exif info (model and unique camera model) in the DNG-files, C1 will also provide a much better result, although not quite to the level of the other packages I mentioned. But this will give other challenges, as I also use a regular GR3 and need to be able to quickly filter the files from the respective cameras.

On a different level, and not aimed at you personally: The GR3x is nearly 1.5 year on the market. And it's not the 1st time it happens that it takes C1 a lot of time to support a regular, popular camera from a mainstream manufacturer. I'm tempted by the newest C1-version, but it doesn't make any sense if my 2nd main system is not supported. Although I really would prefer not to, I will move on if this type of situations keep recurring.

I can totally understand where you're coming from Jacques Linssen and as a result of following up with the camera team, I can confirm we're doing our best to get our hands on a GR3x with a view to implementing support. Thanks for raising this with us and I hope that we can support this camera soon, but I cannot provide a target date or a release version for you at this time.

    Hello Jack,

when can we expect the Lumix S5 II to be supported? I know a number of people who are just transitioning to the S5 II and not only want to film with it, but want to shoot RAW stills as well. I myself have just switched from the S5 to the S5 II and bought the upgrade to COP-23 as a bundle especially for this and can't wait to be able to work with RAW again in COP. COP support would certainly be of interest to many people. And - to me it looks like the RAW files of the S5 II should be very similar to those of the S5, so it shouldn't take that long, right? Please give us some feedback - and of course it would also be nice if the camera were included in the list of future supported cameras above.

Other than that, thank you very much for your really good work!

    Martin

Why is s5m2 missing from the upcoming support list?
    it's unfair.
    Capture One please!

Cameras that are now released like Canon R50 are listed but cameras that are available since two years (like Pentax K3 III) are not even planed. I understand that some more niche products have not the highest priority, but two years are realy a long time.

Martin Brand yoon youngjun I've just asked the camera team about this specific camera. Chances are, I won't be able to reveal any information as we are under NDA – but I have at least followed up on this and will provide an answer if I can, or even better update the table!

Roman Oberleitner I've enquired about this camera a couple of times on your guys' behalf. The collaboration required to get camera support is a two-way street between us and the manufacturer. I'd encourage you to contact Pentax support or post on their forums and ask them to get in touch!

Jack-W Thank you I will contact them. When this is the real show-stopper i call all Pentax K3III users to do the same.

Roman Oberleitner I think that would help! But of course don't blame them or be too harsh ;)

And you are most welcome Martin Brand :)

Jack-W Ive got a quick response from european support thats not rising my expectations, they know this request but its not high priorized because of a low amount of requests.

@Adrian Gyger  @Martin Ryszewski   @ROSSANO DACHILLE   @Paul Horrell Ive seen you have also interesst in the support of this camera, please contact them also, lets gain some interest.

Jack-W I wanted to follow-up on Jacques Linssen's request for the Ricoh GRIIIx; is there something that can be done to support the development needed for this camera? Perhaps providing files for the devs?

  • Adrian Gyger

    @Roman Oberleitner : Done

Just asked for K3 iii support. For the past year, I have been editing DNG files from this camera.

It mostly works, but there are terrible skin tones unless you turn the colour noise slider down to 0
