Below you will find all a feature outline for Capture One for iPad – which allows you to import, tether, edit, and organize your images on the go. Sync your changes to desktop once finished, to continue working in Capture One Pro.

Which iPads support Capture One for iPad?
- iPad Pro third generation and more recent
- iPad eighth generation and more recent
- iPad mini sixth generation and more recent
- iPad Air fourth generation and more recent
Older models are not officially supported. While they may be able to run the Capture One app, we cannot guarantee the best user experience or performance.
You will need to update your iPad to iOS15 or a more recent version to use the app.
How to download Capture One for iPad
Capture One for iPad can only be downloaded and activated via the App Store
You will need an Apple ID in order to download the application.
We recommend using the same email address for both your Apple ID and your Capture One account - this is to ensure that you have access to cloud functionality.
1. Go to the App Store
2. Search 'Capture One'
3. Tap on Capture One for iPad (Shows up as Capture One in the App Store)
Tap here if you are on an iPad to take you to the App Store
4. Tap 'Get' - there is no payment required to download the application, but you will need to pay for a monthly subscription
5. Once the application has downloaded, tap the application icon from your home screen, or from the App Store once it has finished downloading
If the application opens and presents the following screen, then Capture One for iPad has successfully installed on your iPad.
Choose 'Let's get started' to see pricing and subscription options in your local currency.
How to subscribe
Capture One for iPad is free to install, but you need to pay for a subscription in order to use the application. This is around 4.99 USD/month and 5,49 €/month.
It's possible to try Capture One for iPad free for 7-days and you can cancel your subscription at any time. Be sure to log-in with the same Capture One account credentials that you use for Capture One Pro - your Apple ID is only used for billing purposes. If you do not use the same Capture One account on both desktop and iPad, then you will not be able to use Cloud Transfer.
You can create a Capture One account here and also change the email address associated with your existing account before you get started with this process, if you need to.
1. Tap 'Let's get started' to... get started!
2. Select 'Continue' to give Capture One for iPad permission to open your default web browser. This is so you can sign-in with your Capture One account.
3. Enter your Capture One account information. Remember to log-in with the same Capture One account credentials that you use for Capture One Pro, otherwise you will not be able to use cloud transfer.
4. Read this message carefully and ensure that this is the email address you would like to use with Capture One for iPad. Be sure to log-in with the same Capture One account credentials that you use for Capture One Pro if you would like to use Cloud Transfer.
5. Details of your subscription will appear here. Under 'Details' you will see a short description of the subscription. This is a standard iOS/iPad OS dialog when taking out a new subscription.
6. Sign in with your Apple ID to confirm your subscription to Capture One for iPad.
7. You're all set! Now you can begin importing images and take your workflow on the go.
How to unsubscribe
If you wish to stop using Capture One for iPad, you can at any time cancel your subscription and future payments.
When you cancel your subscription, you will still be able to access the application until the end of the current billing period.
Simply navigate to Settings > Apple ID (your name, along with your display picture at the top of the Settings menu) > Subscriptions > Tap on Capture One > Cancel Subscription

You can also cancel your 7-day free trial at any time by following the same steps. However, you must do this at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

If you wish to request a refund for whatever reason, you will need to contact Apple Support, as all of the transactions related to Capture One for iPad are handled by the App Store.

User interface explained
The Catalog Screen
The Catalog screen features a navigation sidebar and an image browser.
The sidebar provides access to:
- Default Catalog folders: All Images, Latest Import, All Captures, Trash.
- Available apps and directories to Import from: Photos, Files and connected storage recognized by iPadOS.
- Connected cameras recognized by iPadOS.
- Your Albums.
The image browser displays all images in the selected location, which can be filtered and sorted for easier navigation. Tap the image to edit it.
The Filters menu displays all available filtering options for images in the selected location.
The Image Editing Screen
The Image Editing screen features a range of editing tools and a filmstrip image browser.
In addition to the familiar filter and sort buttons, you have access to several other options:
- The Undo button can be tapped and held to access redo and reset adjustment options.
- Export or delete images.
- Show metadata, where you can rename the image file.
- Select and apply auto adjustments.
- Copy and apply adjustments to other images.
- Show or hide the filmstrip image browser.
The additional options menu, represented by three dots (...), provides access to several other features:
- Move the tools to the right side of the screen.
- Show or hide the histogram.
- Show or hide the exposure warning. To enable the shadow warning, navigate to Settings > Appearance.
- You can also access the Settings menu from this menu.
- Tap and hold on the image in the main viewer to see how your images looked before adjusting. Similar to the before/after feature in Capture One Pro
- You can also tap and hold the adjustment wheel once you've selected a tool, instead of using the wheel to the left of the display (default) if you prefer a one-handed approach
- Enter Select Mode in the Browser and use the Duplicate function, or long-press on a thumbnail in the filmstrip to create a Variant

Changing language preferences
Capture One for iPad is offered in the following languages:
English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Traditional Chinese
You can change your language at any time from within Capture One by going to '...' > Settings > System Settings > Language
You can also access this through your iPad's Settings by scrolling down in the Settings menu to 'Capture One' where you'll be able to access settings for language, notifications, and more.
Customizing the UI
By default, your tools are placed left in Capture One for iPad. You can change the placement of the tools by going to '...' in the UI and then toggling the options available in the dropdown menu.
You can also open the app settings from this menu and change your preferences from within this screen, as seen below.

Keyboard does not appear when trying to sign-in/up
During the sign-up process, some users may experience an issue with the native iOS keyboard not appearing.
This can be resolved by forcing the keyboard open by tapping the language icon (EN, FR, DE and so on) and then selecting 'Show Keyboard'
The icon can also appear as a keyboard, instead of the language being used, if you are using a pen/pencil.
Connect an external keyboard or other input device
Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
Please be aware that this will clear your browser history and website data.

As well as the above, consider taking the following steps when having problems displaying the keyboard on your iPad:
- Update iPad OS
- Check for app updates
- Tap/select a text field
- Rotate the device
- Force quit and restart the application
- Turn off Bluetooth
- Restart your iPad
Images failing to import / not appearing in catalog
We are aware that sometimes importing certain RAW file types, the import can fail without providing much context. This can happen primarily when importing from Photos and using RAF files.
If you run into any problems when importing images, it's recommended that you use Files as an import source, instead of Photos.
If you have images that are contained in Photos that you would like to import, then save them to Files and then run the import process again.
You can achieve this by selecting your desired images in Photos and then choosing 'Save to Files' as seen below.
Files are renamed upon exporting to Photos
This is not a Capture One for iPad specific issue. Any photos that come into the Photos app are renamed due to iPad OS functionality.
When prompted by the share screen (as shown in the GIF above) choose save to Files and avoid using Photos. Do not select 'Save Image' as this will save the exported image to Photos and your file will be renamed.
If you are using version 1.0.1 and you purchased your subscription using a coupon code, you may encounter a 'profile mismatch' message which prevents you from accessing the application.
Please ensure that you have updated to version 1.0.2 in order to fix this issue.
Canon R7 and R10 files unsupported
Version 1.0.2 does not support files from Canon R7 and R10 cameras respectively. We are working on a fix for this and there is currently no available workaround.
