Too many options. Too many clauses. Too many variants.
You must simplify, not make understanding even more complex.

The "please click here" link under "I have a perpetual license for Capture One Pro" is dead.

PS. I'm curious why you didn't just disclose this information right away when you announced that this loyalty programme would be introduced.

If you are looking to understand your options as an existing perpetual license holder and the upcoming changes coming to our perpetual licenses, please click here"

Wow, who prepared that? I read this several times to figure out what this is about. Live showed me that only simple things are working. This is not simple.

    Simple things:

    - Price for monthly subscription: €16
    - Price for annual subscription: €180

When you cancel your subscription you can use last version of C1 if you payed at least for one year.

    - License cost: €260 - free feature updates for one year.

Instead of introducing some discounts, lower the (high) prices for subscription, then more people will use it instead of perpetual license. These changes will not encourage new people to join C1 community.

    Best regards,
    Marcin.

Me too. I had to reread the tables several times to understand, approximately, how much I should pay now and in the future.

And then ... with all due respect, I doubt that they will keep the current prices for the next 6 years as from the examples they do. Therefore? Change the whole paradigm ...

    Hi Jack,

I haven't been able to find any information about this: if you're on a perpetual license for the latest version of Capture One after 30 September 2023, will you be able to buy the latest updates with new features (the ones that are no longer free), and how much will they be?

    I either do software.

    why so complicated?

If you want to confuse & loose customers, this is a good way to do it.

as a photographer, I do not have to look at the quality only (C1 is the absolute winner), I either have to look at the best value (not the same ranking than quality...) and the personal feeling about the system (Adobe lost me because of the subscription model).
I really hope things will become easier (and cheaper would be the bonus).
    kind regards
    Stefan

Why to talk still about "perpetual versions".

Be honnest! Everything is only a subscription. Either you pay yearly or you only can buy a yearly subscription?

What the hell! Are humans getting really so stupid?

    Bonjour,

    why so complicated?

I begin to suspect these tables were just worked out over the holidays...

I would imagine, if you plan such a change for this size of a company you take your time to work things out and present a beautifully simple offer...

It would be fair for perpetual licence owners to know what features you plan to release until 30 of September to make proper decision if upgrading from 22 or older.

I accept that being 80 years old I can't get my head around things as easily as I used to.  But does the super new C1 plan really need to be so complex or is it deliberate obfuscation?  Perhaps it isn't and it's just been presented badly? I'm not quite sure where I stand at the moment as a Perpetual licence holder last upgraded to V22 at the end of October 2021, but whichever way it still looks as though it's going to be pricey.  I had been hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel after all the hoo-ha a month or so ago but it seems not.  Guess I grit my teeth and hang on to Perpetual V22 and hope they don't cancel it too soon

Will the discount be deducted automatically in the future, or do I have to ask support every time?

If I buy a perpetual license on January, 1st in the year 2024, how long do I receive bug fix releases?

    EDIT: ... for free?

    Every time....

So do I get it right? It's called "Loyalty Programme" but from the table it seems that the longer you are a C1 user...the less bonus you get???? Where is appreciation of loyal (long itme) users?

Although I am in the uk can I buy in usd for a 20% discount? Why the different pricing?

This might be rightfully called loyalty program for subscribers (and seems to be an improvement for them).

But for perpetual licence holders who are "loyal" to C1 in the sense of being a long-term customer and (but) upgrade only once in a while it is a slap in the face that they don't get new features and bug fixes within the year after purchase (or the next major release, whatever comes first).

One year (or two years, in the EU) of free bug fix releases would be appropriate.

C1, re-think your license policy changes, you have a second chance,  use it.

Went about as I expected mostly a push to the subscription model, with reward for subscribers.

Also if I give you 5 years at 250 CAD$ OR 34$ CAD monthly I can get a « perpetual » license for free feels like the deal of the century. You guys know that adobe plan are like 20$? Really disappointed, just venting at this point; been following since that first email and clearly you don’t want to listen or you don’t care.

I feel there was a way to present all of this in a better way, first by announcing before pushing C23 upgrade price so customer could make an informed decision.

Well was fun while it lasted!

So basically if there are still bugs after a year they won't get fixed? That doesn't make sense to me, how can you just knowingly not fix a known issue for software you are selling? Also I'm assuming there will be no support for new cameras without updates meaning we would be forced to pay even more money if we upgrade to a newly released camera...

I bought the C1Pro perpetual license because I hate subscriptions for any kind of software. Perpetual license was a major reason for the choice between Adobe and Capture One. So I bought C1Pro20. There were no any significant improvements in 2021 and I skipped this version. I bought C1Pro22 because of HDR and a new gear mainly. I do not see any valuable (for me) improvements in C1Pro23 and I am not going to buy it. So... if (and I have to stress it - if) there are some valuable improvements in 2024 version, I have 20% upgrade discount left only.
Once for a while I will need to upgrade anyway (new features, new gear, etc.) It may happen I will not have any loyalty discount left at that time. Capture One forcing me to move to subscription plan. But it costs more than Adobe Photography subscription!
I can tell you truth - as a Capture One loyal customer, I do not like these recent changes.

All that is included with a perpetual license are the updates/fixes within your point release eg if on 16.1 you only get updates to 16.1 and no access to 16.2, 16.3 etc. There are no details on how often updates will be released. If CO release an update every 3 months 16.2, 16.3 etc then a perpetual license owner will be having to pay for for a full license every 3 months which is ridiculous! CO need to provide transparency on how often a perpetual license owner would have to for an update if they were to buy one each time an update is released.

I think CO are going about this the wrong way. When you buy CO you get 12 months of updates and then you are stuck on the latest version forever at the time your 12 months expires. If you want further updates you have to pay for another 12 months of updates, and so on. This is how Topaz license their products.

For me this situation is clear now. I have co 21 and need to consider if upgrade to 23 before new loyalty policy is very valuable for me because this will be my last product from capture one (because I don't need upgrade every year and normal price without discount is ridiculous). I have 4 weeks to validate if on1 photo raw 23 could be my main raw editor (I have this but not using to often). CO changed deadline for changing policy from 1st of Feb to middle of Feb. Is it right?

As posted elsewhere too, a clarification of the updates/versions distinction.

David Grover says on Facebook (in the Paul Reiffer Live group) that if you buy version 16.2, you will get updates 16.2.1 and 16.2.2, etc., but once 16.3 is released you will have to pay for it. And so you'd have to pay for upgrades several times a year if you want to stay up to date with new features and bug fixes (and stay on a perpetual license).

So the loyalty programme for subscribers allows one to get a discounted or potentially free perpetual licence if one decides to stop subscribing.
Why not give a discount to the subscription price for loyal subscribers ? The longer one subscribes the bigger the discount.
This would sweeten the deal for a lot of the complaints I read here. It would certainly make me more inclined to convert my perpetual licence to a subscription.

How would the "L" programme have turned out if there had been no protest from some of the customers? It could not have been much worse. Were we as customers so nasty that we were shown up like this?
