In this tutorial we will learn how to capture directly from your camera to the iPad via a USB connection.
All you need is a compatible camera and a USB cable suitable for tethered capture!
It is also possible to connect wirelessly. As wireless connection varies greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer, please refer to our help centre guide for more information.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot seem to establish a connection, make sure your camera is setup correctly as mentioned previously. Or turn off/on your camera, even remove the battery and try restarting Capture One.
Generally, wired tethering provides a faster and more reliable connection compared to wireless. The speed of transferring images via wireless is highly dependent on what iPad and camera you are using, network speed, as well as the size of the RAW images.
It is recommended to use a dedicated tether cable for a more secure, stable and faster image transfer.

You can also connect a USB hub to your iPad, so that you can tether while charging the iPad at the same time.
