Panasonic tethering support
Not currently planned-
Official comment
To implement tethering for Panasonic cameras, we would need help and support for Panasonic. So, currently I encourage you to reach out to Panasonic with Your request.
As such, we currently have no current plans to implement tethering for Panasonic cameras.

The S series of Cameras deserve tether support S1,S1H and S5 all use the same sensor. S1R is a serious studio camera. I note from another thread you will be providing support to the S5MkII but can you state if this will include tether support. Please.

It's been overdue for so long, the only thing you can do is constantly write emails and hope that they will sit down at some point. I think currently the demand is not high enough, which is why Capture One is not interested in spending resources on it, upside down, no studio/advertising photographer is interested in a Lumix because you can't tethern with C1. A vicious cycle

Honestly this really sucks. I just bought a Panasonic camera for video but It's likely going to be a backup camera for my photo work. Not being able to tether it in Capture One is a huge unexpected roadblock. The C1 team blaming it on Panasonic seems like a cop out. I'm sure one phone call to a Panasonic exec could give you all the resources you need to make it happen.

Same. Whilst it is possible to use Lumix tether to a capture one capture folder it’s a Frankenstein solution that does not fly in a professional environment. The application of settings from the last capture is an essential part of workflow. I will put in a feature request for improvement to ‘hot folder’ capabilities to be able to switch on an automatic copy and paste of settings from the previous file. This would add much viability to capture one to many more potential users. I believe I have to do this in the feature request area. Please look out for it.

I have requested improved watched folder functionality here. Please support the request. https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/10378182079901-Improve-Hot-Folder-functionality-

Yes, please support tethering for Lumix S series cameras. Even if the Panasonic cameras are perhaps better known for their video functionality, they are also excellent photo cameras, but they are of little use in the studio without tethering.

Came in to boost this post. Capture one and Lumix need to work together to have native tethering support! It’s ridiculous that these amazing CAPABLE cameras have been out since 2019 and NO TETHERING SUPPORT. Capture One please do something about this!

I would also like to be able to use Capture One with my Lumix S Series camera. The Beta SDK is available from Panasonic. I would have thought between both companies you could develop a solution.

I, too, am disappointed that Panasonic Lumix S series cameras can not be used tethered to Capture One with C1's full tethering functions. Capture One should make this a priority, get in touch with Panasonic, and make this happen quickly as possible. Surely Capture One should have sufficient ability to get Panasonic to provide whatever collaboration is required.

Just cancelled my subscription due to no Panasonic tethering support. Disappointed to 'officially' see that it's not planned on here.
I've had email responses from Capture One Support in the past saying that 'it takes a long time to implement', but not that they had no plans to implement it.

Here to contribute my voice to ask for support for S series camera tethering. I was just about to purchase Capture One but you all are losing out on my $$$ because you do not support the S series cameras. Make it happen, you'll earn big support from Panasonic photographers.

Quote from @Christian G:
"To implement tethering for Panasonic cameras, we would need help and support from Panasonic. Therefore, at this time, I recommend that you contact Panasonic with your request.
As a result, we have no current plans to implement tethering for Panasonic cameras at this time."
The response from the Lumix team to my inquiry:
LUMIX works with many different hardware and software brands providing support and collaboration on features & technologies; we also have an open API. Unfortunately, not all 3rd parties develop for our products, we would suggest sending your feature request to the software manufacturer so they understand there is demand."
The SDK file is on the Lumix site, you don't need support from Lumix , you could do this on your own if you wanted.SDK: https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/soft/tool/sdk.html
Lumix is now also in the photo field, and no longer just a good film camera for freelancers. It makes absolutely no sense why none of the cameras are supported by Capture One. I have spoken with many photographers and many would like to see Capture One finally support tethering.

It's Kinda funny that the Sigma FP and FpL are thetering supported but no Panasonic Cameras. And im pretty sure that there are more Panasonic Users out there than People that use a Sigma FP. This all makes no sense at all

I too am very disappointed with this issue. I have a Lumix S5 and am currently evaluating the trial version of Capture One. I like the software, but I can NOT buy it if I won't be able to use my S5 in the end!

I was planing my switch to the S1R, but was disappointed after knowing there's not support for tether either. Such a basic feature for an outstanding camera.

Can you use the application "Lumix Tether" and set the "Capture Folder" of a C1 session to the target folder of Lumix Tether (assuming this app stores the image files in a target folder on the computer)? Or is Lumix Tether a bad application?
2 -
I see Will King has mentioned it:
it’s a Frankenstein solution that does not fly in a professional environment. The application of settings from the last capture is an essential part of workflow.
That means that Lumix Tether is a bad application because it does not remember the settings from the last capture?

That means that Lumix Tether is a bad application because it does not remember the settings from the last capture? BeO
Lumix Tether is not bad in itself, but it lacks many features that Capture one or Hasselblad Focus have. For example, applying a look that is applied to all other images that are imported afterwards. Also the performance and reliability of Capture one is much better than LUMIX Tether.

The only thing that can cause an impact is the feature request about Lumix cameras to grow bigger.
Guys, you know what you need to do. we need as many people as possible to upvote in this forum so that Capture one understands that the demand is big enough to put in the work.

Agree with Pascal, but the it's ironic how I won't buy the S1R because won't work on my professional workflow with Capture One. 99,9% of my work I shoot tethered on Capture One.
2 -
yes. in our studio we also work 100% with capture one. there we also work with phase one and leica. i privately have a lumix s1 and have recently thought very often about making the switch to leica or fujifilm medium format cameras. But I'm really happy with my Lumix and I don't want to invest in another camera system because of software.

> Pascal von Winterfeld: ...The SDK file is on the Lumix site, you don't need support from Lumix
It appears that:
- the SDK was first releases 3 years ago and is still a beta version
- red lettering says "Please note that operation and user support is not guarantees due to beta version."
- the SDK is only available for Windows
2 -
Okay i didnt know that to be fair but also someone told me that capture one doesn't work with SDKs anymore So it is useless either way.

Would LOVE tethering support on Panasonic bodies (5 of which Panasonic would call 'flagship' bodies)
This would be the kind of thing to ask on the Thursday LUMIX USA Live sessions on YT. I appreciate that PhaseOne can't do it by themselves.

> Edward Moffat: I appreciate that PhaseOne can't do it by themselves
During that live session you may want to refer to the company actually responsible for the Capture One software.

Guys, just sign the petition, let's get this moving, share it and spread it, print it and harass this company on every youtube video, at every event, on every stream they do: https://www.change.org/p/capture-one-please-add-tethering-support-to-panasonic-lumix-s-series-cameras

Good idea! Signed!
I commented about .psb support in one of their videos, but they deleted my comment. At least we have this thread to be heard.
3 -
really good Idea dude, I have signed directly

I think if each of us logs a feature request for this, it will help.
