I can't recall Capture One crashing for me in a very long time. So it appears that something in your set-up isn't playing nicely with it. Perhaps tell us what your set up is, and maybe someone here will be able to make helpful suggestions to cure the problem.

I have done that in a prior post but here it is:

    Processor: Intel i7-11700 @2.5GHz
    RAM: 128 GB

    64 bit

    Windows 11 Pro (installed 2/20/2023

    OS Build 22621.1555

    2X NVidea GeForce video cards

BTW: I just noticed a new version of C1 on the site. I just downloaded and installed that. We'll see how that goes.

You may have said it in a previous post, but I for one am not aware of it - just one of your fellow users.

Are your catalogs (or sessions) and images stored internally on your PC, or on an external drive of some kind?

After install, the new version (23 Win.16.13.1223), it worked to open 2 files. When I tried to open a third file, it crashed. Now, it won't open anything.

I wonder what was different about the third file (Catalog or Session I assume you mean). Where was it stored?

Most of my images are on removable hard drives. Some are on an internal SSD. I believe the issue has to do with WIN 11, because it is a fairly recent install.

That may be so. And what about your video card drivers? Can they be updated (or reverted to a previous driver)?

The first was on an external HD, the second and third were on the same internal HD. This was the same pattern as with other reinstalls. It opens 1, 2, or 3 files, then crashes and never works again

And when you say files, do you mean catalogs?

    no, sessions. Cosessionsdb format files.

If you can get it up and running again, I wonder whether it is worth trying verifying your sessions.

What does "verifying your sessions" mean?

Hi Andrew, C1 has been very stable for me on W11 Pro. However, it does make a lot of use of your GPU.

Nvidia provide two types of driver Game and Studio. Studio is for creative applications like C1 and are recommended unless you are also a keen gamer.

First thing I would do, if you haven't already is download and clean install the latest studio driver and see if that improves matters.

I have also requested tech support from C1, with no response. This, after buying two brand new Phase One camera systems at full price.

Have you tried to contact Phase One instead of Capture One? Money can't buy everthing in life but I'd assume in this case Capture One should baby you... (even if Phase One and Capture One are separate companies now)

IanS, I'll look into video drivers, thx. I am not an "avid gamer" but I use high end 3D animation software. That software requires access to the same resources as games, so I likely am using the game-optimized drivers for such things as rotation of large clusters of vertices.

That's the sort of application Studio drivers are for:

What is the Nvidia studio driver?

    Update:
C1 still misbehaving. My workaround is to uninstall and reinstall every few hours. It is a huge pain in the neck but it works. Personally, I think this is extremely poor performance and I'd like to find a solution. C1 worked perfectly, no crashes, no problems in any session for almost eight years. Then, with no hardware or software changes that I can identify, C1 started failing on me about 6 weeks ago.

Another update: after uninstalling/reinstalling C1 three times in the last hour, I am fed up with this software. There was a time when I loved C1 but now it's time for a divorce. I have received no support from C1 on this and I've recently discovered that Photoshop will open .iiq files. So, I'm done with C1 at least until another version is released. The one I'm using now, or have on my system but can't use due to frequent crashes, is worthless.

... and did you ever try verifying your sessions as suggested?

According to the verify sessions tool, my sessions are "OK". That may not be relevant though because C1 sometimes crashes before I have a chance to try and open a file. There clearly is a bug of some kind, or instability in the install causing problems. I don't have the time to roubleshoot it and I'm not going to restore my system to factory defaults, thus forcing me to reinstall about 40 programs, their licenses, and various website passwords, to get it working again. I think that would work but having done it before, I know it would entail about 2-3 days of downtime.

Andrew Paquette If you're experiencing problems like this, then you need to contact support. I can see that you've never made a request with us and I would encourage you to do so, so that your issue/s can be properly troubleshooted.

As you're a Phase One customer, you should also be contacting Phase One support. They can also assist with any Capture One issues that you are having, as well as providing you with the service included in your system's warranty.

I contacted Phase One and they had a technician contact me. The problem remains unresolved. Meaning, Capture One is too unreliable to use. That doesn't mean I don't try, but it is a huge pain in the neck. It normally means uninstalling after every use, then re-installing 1-3 times before it will work again. Based on comments from tech support, it is an issue related to the licensing software, not the license itself.

Enrique Verano - if you actually want help with the problems you are having, you probably need to start a thread of your own, not add it to the end of an old post from months ago. If you do that, make sure you tell us as much as possible about your set-up so that people have a chance of helping. At least say whether you are on Mac or Windows, and what version of MacOS or of Windows. Also has anything about your set-up changed between when it used to work OK and now. What do you mean by weird colours. When you say it has stopped exporting what happens - are there error messages, or is it just that nothing happens at all?
