Transfer of crop information from EXIF data
What problem do you see this solving?
Leica cameras M 11 as well as all models of the Q line offer the option DIGITAL ZOOM. The result is a cropped JPG and a DNG file that includes the crop information in the EXIF data. Unfortunately C1 does not read this information and does not show the crop when developing the DNG file. LIGHTROOM DOES OFFER THIS SERVICE!
When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool?
Always. The workflow is affected awesome. Especially with the Leica Q series which relies even more in DIGITAL ZOOM with the just announced Model Q3.
Using the DIGITAL ZOOM does simulate longer focal length. Not showing this crop makes it useless to develop the images in C1.
Are you using any workarounds or other solutions to achieve your goals in Capture One?
The workaround: Shooting in DNG+JPG, importing both, showing DNG and JPG side be side in the viewer, cropping the DNG manually and lastly deleting the JPG. What a mess!

Yes.

Same here. I'm using the Q3 since a couple of days now (beside my Canon R5).
Of course, I can crop the DNGs later to the original aspect ratio, but this is time consuming and I have to remember, which picture was cropped and which digital focal length was used (which is very hard for hundreds of pictures at weddings/events).
So my current 'workaround' is to develop the Q3 files in Lightroom (which I haven't used since I switched to C1 in 2015). It would be great to get this feature in C1 as soon as possible.

Update: A user in the Leica User Forum recommends this script (Mac OS only): https://github.com/bezineb5/c1-crop-from-exif

This feature should be essential.

The linked script works really well. It's hard to understand why the C1 ninjas appear to have not integrated something similar or updated and FAQ or something :-/

I've tried the script, but I get an error message.
I have written to the developer and I'm waiting for his reply.
In any case the function should be added by C1!!

Hello Vincenzo Camparada
It isn't my script and I am by no means a 'developer' of any sort, but perhaps the problem lies in the original script on this line if you just copied it from the github site
tell application "Capture One 12"
You will have to make sure this is changed to the version of Capture One you are using. I had to change mine to the following.
tell application "Capture One 23”
Hopefully this will do the trick.
