I want go through a session and tag photos I want to use in a slideshow but I have already used colour tags and star tags and don't want to change those tags, is there a way I can tag photos with a string (text) or something so I can select them all later for export?

    If you have already used the colour tags and the star ratings, you could create an album. Just create a new album perhaps called slideshow, and drag the images to it that you want to include. It is just a virtual collection - it doesn't move images out of their existing location and it doesn't take up extra storage space. And one of the advantages of an album is that you can add images to more than one album - so you could have a holiday slideshow album, and a family slideshow album, with some of the photos appearing in both.
