Feature request - some improvements to bundle similar requests
Maybe this has already happened? After creating a feature request for DAM improvements (full text search for album/groups/projects) I found another request with similar content: This here https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/12390087332637-Search-collections-albums?input_string=search is pretty much the same like mine https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/12403322631965-Full-text-search-for-groups-collections-and-projects
I just tried again to start a request and typed "search", but not all of the already mentioned requests didn't pop up.
Which raises the question: Is Capture One bundling the posts? Would it be better in terms of "attention from devs", if there are multiple posts or would it be easier to maintain to bundle similar posts by admins/mods?

if we catch a duplicate feature/camera request, we write a comment asking the creator to upvote the older post (or the one with more upvotes) and then we archive the duplicate post.
zendesk's search is a bit of a torture so we are sure we are not eliminating 100% of duplicates, but we try
don't hesitate to mention me (type @) in a comment if you find a duplicate!

thanks for reaching out and explaining. But:
I don't know if I recall in the future your name or the procedure. I'm not a professional forum poster and the Capture One forum is, compared to DxO forum i.e., a pain to use: My eyes are aching because of the stupid design decision of white text on black / dark grey background. I really wonder, if the designer also reads books with thin white text on black pages. So, I'm less than frequently here.
Also, in https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/8745099907997-How-to-make-a-feature-request-or-provide-feedback it would be great to read (as it is a "how to"...) to search first and in case no request is already covering my feature request, I could start with it.
[EDIT: The downside of this idea is, as you pointed out, the search is plain rubbish /EDIT]
The way it is, it's spreading too widely and the votes are simply ridiculous low. And if you guys can't put this and the article of Jack https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/10131030641565-How-to-make-a-feature-request-or-provide-feedback-to-Capture-One together in your black mess, how on Earth should I come up with a search for similar articles? My guess is: Capture One gives a playground for people who need to type out their frustration of still missing features, but possibility of improvements are extremely low.
I'm also not quite sure about the intersection of similarities, about the granularities. I need to ask, Denis Huk: Are you mods having fun with people going toxic after being visually tortured by this black mess which is absolutely confusing, needs maximum space in the browser for often minimal information? In this forum every rule of clear and readable layout is broken, so it appears to me as inviting as a dark tunnel, smelly, humid and with gazillions of spider cobs. One only enters if there's no other way.
EDIT: Funny, as I edit my post I get an editor window with white background and black text - so it's not completely impossible...

Good morning @Victor I'm not envying you for working in this eye-stressing forum layout. Maybe it was not the intention, but if the targets were "make it unpleasant and tiring to read, almost impossible to find your own post again and maximize all screenshots with no possibility to scale it smaller" - then it was a full success.

JoJu Speaking as a user here and not as a mod, I find your incessant rudeness off-putting to say the least. I encourage you to bring something of value to the forum. "White text on black background is difficult to read. Consider a or b or c." Insulting the design or the designer is unhelpful and unwelcome.

Brian Jordan You can have your opinion, and apparently you didn't search the forum for "anything of value" from me. There are pretty clear design rules for readability of texts on screen and usability, breaking them is neither respectful nor inviting to the reader. And if you have a big label that says "Moderator" next to your picture, you can label your post as "not as a mod" in all sorts of accents - it doesn't make it any more credible while insulting me. But it says also something about the attitude of a mod.
The search makes it nearly impossible for new users to find similar posts (how about you bringing something useful to the table?) and if I then scroll though various posts to find my owns, my eyes are aching after a rathe short while. There are literally hundreds of better examples of forums round the internet. Attacking users in an impolite way doesn't improve the design quality here!
And btw. Jack W, Denis Huk and Victor: who's moderating mods insulting users?

JoJu My issue isn't that you disagree with something or think that it's wrong or that it could be better. But referring to people as 'stupid' has no place in any forum. That's just one of your comments I took as belittling on a personal level.

I too noticed your choice of words, JoJu, as near inappropriate and mainly ranting speech, not enough to jump onto it; I think we have sufficient mods now to do so, if that continued. If you ask me, or even if you don't, Brian's reply could have been more polite imo, just a little, but I think it is far away from what I would see as an insult.
I think if everyone calmed down now this would be a good idea, and focussing on suggestions to improve things too.
What about a user setting dark theme vs. light theme?

Now, maybe you can give me the name of the person referred as "stupid"? I cannot insult a design, I can insult persons. And I didn't. But Brian put it personally on me, his judgement of "incessant rudeness". I spend some time here and I'm still annoyed about a bad forum design.

Your idea, BeO for user setting dark and light theme is excellent - and how are the chances to get that? I mean, if white text on black background is really no problem, then why are the editor boxes the opposite? Look guys, I don't know what you do for a living. I'm a technical writer and also responsible for UI texts and UI element design. I think, I can judge what's good and what's bad in that terms. This forum would never get an approval in my team.

JoJu First up, we really appreciate the time you've taken to make this post and to provide feedback on the forum.
To put it plainly: we do our best with the tools we have available to us.
We've pulled this forum back from the brink around a year or so ago, to the point where it's on its way to becoming a hub of activity with regards to feature requests, camera requests, and providing information on the known bugs that affect users. I have to say I'm quite proud of where we're going, even if there is a long way to go, especially when it comes to UX.
Search functionality across the forum simply doesn't work in the way that I would expect it to. We have a major change coming soon, which basically indexes the entire Help Center and Forum, and will provide much more accurate and realistic search results. This has not been done by us, but by our platform provider Zendesk, who we are in constant contact with regards to their roadmap and how their changes/plans affect us.
Something we can certainly take on board right away and look to change, is the theme of the forum. We went with the white text on black background at a time when "Dark Mode" was becoming increasingly popular – for what it's worth, I much prefer reading white text on dark backgrounds, but we realize not everyone feels that way. We're looking into implementing a dark mode "switch" (as BeO suggested) that allows users to switch between two themes. Again, this is something we would have to craft ourselves and implement into Zendesk's existing code and can take many work hours.
I also haven't seen anything in here that I would deem insulting. Some interesting choices of words (I particularly liked the comparison to the dark cave) but nothing more than that. JoJu we share the same job title and seemingly have a shared end goal, so I would love to hear more from you on how we can continue to make this a place people want to visit and re-visit.
Continue to have discussions like this, I wholly encourage it. We're all seemingly adults here and I trust the community, as well as the moderators, to behave as such.(Sorry for the short novel!)

The background here is not pure black. But #1E1E1E is just not that far away, if I compare them side by side, the difference is very hard to detect.It could also be helpful to alter the graytone between two posts.
I would suggest: How about a poll? Let the users coming here have a word, as we participate or don't, maybe because of the readability.
I still find BeO's suggestion a great idea: There's already a lot of work in the current design, some users for sure would like to keep it - so why throw it away if there can be a choice? On most of the forums I'm frequenting the lighter (=brighter) designs also can alter the else sinister tone in discussions. Here at C1 my suggestions for improvements - could also be called complaints - already are not exactly cheering me up, but the dark design makes me grumpier, costs energy to consider not writing grumpier than I already feel, and the impression "my input disappears into darkness" is also no motivation to keep up. It simply adds extra load and as photographers know "highlights bring lightness and shadows bring power and force into the image" - that's maybe also true for the colours here? Reading this discussion, being attacked by a mod, who pretends to not write as a mod but is already in defense mode and speaking for the "insulted design", I think my conclusions are not that far form what happened?
But layout is only one thing. I believe (and can't prove easily): The search is not leading to good results at the moment, so alternativley one can spend some time and scrolling though thread titles. Which are shifting, as soon as a thread get's a higher number of votes, as the default sorting (at least in the "improvements" board) order is "number of votes". Another kind of defense line: New posts naturally can't have a lot of votes, so off they go into dark oblivion after carefully writing in combination with some research efforts. This is another demotivation for new members, I think.
