Today I shot a baptism today, half of my pictures with Sony a7c ii --> I'd need support otherwise I can't deliver half of my work!

It feels super weird that it doesn't even recognize the files exist. Can't wait for this to work, I have a wedding to edit

Tangelo Fox - all Sony cameras use the ARW file extension for their raw files, but that doesn't mean that the files from different camera models are completely the same. Capture One only recognises and handles files from camera models it supports.

As to when support for this camera will come, I have no idea. They say at the top of this thread that it is in the works, so presumably it will come when they have it ready.

FirstName LastName - always worth checking first! But at least they say it is in the works.

I found a good workaround while waiting for official support. Using Exif Pilot I changed my pictures' exif data to my previous camera model and because Sony didn't actually change anything in the files, it works perfectly fine. If there is something other than adding the model to the whitelist that changes we'll find out when it gets officially implemented, but for now, it works just fine!

Also, Adobe Lightroom Classic has support now for the new cameras. So if you need to edit and sort your ARWs, you can do it in that. Not ideal, but works.

2 months is quite the delay. got my camera yesterday thinking this would have already been implemented a long time ago...

best reason so far to revisit Lightroom...I wish CaptureOne support would actually provide a response...even if it is not what we want at least we know they are listening...I am going to go see if I can tolerate LR now...

There is apparently a new bigger feature release of Capture One Pro (perhaps internal version number 17.0.0) coming soon, with this livestream about the new features scheduled for October 25th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyHcQzV-Oaw

I guess the new version will be released very close to October 25th and I'm guessing that A7CII and A7CR support will be included with this new major release as it was not included in 16.2.5 that was released at the end of September and appears to have been the last release of version 16.x.

Previously for example A7C support was first introduced in a new major version of C1 Pro back in 2020 and that has been the case also with some other Sony cameras.

My permanent license for Capture One Pro 23 was valid until 30th of September (meaning 16.2.5 is the last version covered by the license and further updates won't be) and I had to buy a new permanent license that is still valid for next release while there was a 40% loyalty discount going on... I bought it based on guess that the upcoming new version must be the one that brings A7CII support. If the support wasn't going to be included even in the new major version, it would be a bit of a problem...

I bought a Sony A7 iv in April and Capture one in May (perpetual licence). If I have to pay for a new version of Capture One just for my new A7C ii, even though the ARW files are identical (!!!), 6 months after - I'd be quite angry and I believe I won't be the only one.

I'd understand if the files were really different, but it's not the case so it would be just a rip-off.

I installed new version 16.3.0 (I guess today's new release is 16.3.0 rather than 17.0.0 after all) Trial version (which doesn't yet have any release notes on C1 site) and activated it with my new perpetual license key. I was fully expecting A7CII Raw files support to be included but it doesn't seem to be. Raw files are still not visible...

Based on C1's new policies they would not introduce new camera support in bug fix releases like 16.3.x and such would only be introduce in new feature releases like 16.3.0, 16.4.0 etc. If it takes another ~3 months to 16.4.0 until A7CII support is introduced and I have to buy a new perpetual license to get it again it will be highly disappointing...

Hello everyone, I noticed that the ZF Nikon came out after the A7Cii and is already supported. Very disappointed for me

Timings like that may depend on a number of factors including the level of demand for support for each camera, and the ease of getting hold of a copy of the camera for tests, which I assume may vary from one manufacturer to another.

Maybe so, but in the meantime my license expired a few days ago and I can't update. We are hoping for a Sony A7Cii, A7Cr compatibility update for the 16.2 release.

We all know that the raw files are the same as the Sony A7IV, but they delay the support of the Sony A7cii just to make money.

Looking at the recent history of new camera support additions:

16.3.0: File support for Apple iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max
    16.2.5: Nikon Zf
    16.2.4: Fujifilm GFX100 II, Sony A6700
    16.2.1: Leica Q3, FUJIFILM X-S20, Pentax K-3 Mk III, Panasonic Lumix DC-S5II / DC-S5IIX, Sony ZV-E1
    16.2.0: Nikon Z8

Looks like they've been adding new camera support in "bug-fix releases" like 16.2.x continuously although I got the impression from some of their blog posts that new camera support introductions were also limited to new feature releases. I doubt that they would ever update 16.2.x line anymore now that 16.3.0 is out, but at least there is hope that A7CII and A7CR support could be added e.g. in 16.3.1.

A7CII seems to be the most requested camera in this "Request camera support" forum that is planned to be supported but not yet delivered, so I hope that gives them some urgency to deliver it...

    Hello,

by when wil you support raws from Sony A7C II ? Urgently needed !

    2
  • Cesco

How can it be, that Adobe is already offering for weeks support for Sony A7C II raws and Capture one not. Since 2 weeks I cannot use my camera and I‘m slowly thinking to go to Adobe

interestingly i just discovered that Finder, Preview & the Photos app on macOS also do not support the files. maybe Phase One is waiting on Apple for something? and Adobe bypassed whatever needs to be done at the OS level? additionally Pixelmator Pro doesn't support the files yet either, but Affinity Photo does.

if you're in this forum, i recommend also submitting Apple Feedback to get OS level support, that might help move things along for Capture One.

Just downloaded latest minor version.. 16.3.0 today,

and yet there is no file support for any ARW variant???

CapturePro coders on holidays or asleep behind the wheel? Please fix this asap!

This used to be a Sony-close software I would have expected full support on day 1 of the camera release..

    Windows can do it..
