As far as I can see, Sony have just announced this camera today, at least I first had emails from dealers about it today, inviting pre-orders. So you might have to wait a while to see Capture One support, as they need to get hold of the camera to do their testing and create a profile.

    So patience will be needed.

It looks like a great camera.

I have my a7CR and ARW raw files aren't showing up in the list. Only the JPGs
Thought there was something wrong with the Camera sharing the files but they are there in the Finder window. Just not showing up in Capture One

jwm - that's because Capture One doesn't yet support files from this camera. But as it says at the top of this thread, it is in the works.

See the list of currently supported cameras here.

Thanks Ian Wilson, I figured that was the case, just wanted to add my findings so nobody else freaks out when searching the problem.

Is there an ETA on this?
Does C1 only add camera support in big releases or do they sometimes add them in minor/patch releases?
    Just wondering,

    Thanks!

May I know the ETA too pls? Thanks

Hello?! Cap One Support!!!   Are you listening? A response would go a long way...silence is NOT golden in these cases...just saying!

Hii Ian oh wow, kinda shocked and flabbergasted the camera is still not supported. Seems an important part of Capture One's value proposition to prioritize compatibility with high-quality/high-demand cameras. Shot a client job this morning and welp I guess there's always adobe bridge 🫠

Waiting impatiently for the software update. Love the new Sony A7CR! Using the Sony Imaging Edge Desktop for now.

If you need to edit them now, these raws are no different from Sony A7R V as it is the same sensor. So just edit the meta data, and change the model to ILCE-7RM5 and poof they open just fine. You can use a program called EXIF pilot on Windows to do it in batch mode if you have a bunch.

I just literally on Friday bought a perpetual license. Now I’m reading that C1 tends to tie camera support updates into “pay to upgrade” updates. I’m going to be really upset if this camera support ends up like this.

If the program can be tricked into accepting files with the same sensor on different platforms, are there major differences to get support for a different body?

Timelines or blueprints would be great, besides “we are working on it.”

Looks like DxO launches this month.

Update: Newest update for DxO includes support for A7CR as of 11/7/23

It would be nice to get any updates about the A7CR support. I bought my camera in New York two weeks ago and came home to Germany with a lot of vacation pictures...not able to process them at home :-(

Day 1 support for Leica, Month 2 support for Sony A7CR????? When all it is that needs to change is copying the A7R5 profile and unlocking the EXIF block for the camera model?

DxO and Luminar supported it on Day 1. This is not a hard thing to resolve.

Not a good look Capture One.

The radio silence is definitely weird.
DxO has some issues with their rollout, but they are engaging in the discussion directly.

Capture One is the most intuitive and powerful software I've worked with, and could be my RAW-Final workflow, but the complete lack of communication and engagement are really frustrating

Thanks for the tip Steven scagnelli.  Appreciated!

I also find both the continued lack of support (with the camera in my hands for over a month) combined with the utter lack of communication from the Capture One team. I assume the issue is a small team and conflicting priorities (though this one seems a gimme), but the lack of communication about it has, at least for me, severely hurt my trust in CO.

The frustrating part is that I still find CO works better for me and I prefer the results vs. Lightroom. However... At some point that becomes irrelevant and I just need to use the thing that works. And right now LR works and CO doesn't.

That clock is ticking. Workarounds are short-term solutions. I'm really hoping it's not time for a long-term solution that involves not using CO.

@Doug Stewart, you speak right from my soul – I left Lightroom 2017 and continued with CO. After 4 weeks with my Alpha 7CR I‘m glancing at LR again.

@dougstewart and @happymac I am right there with you. Silence is a strategy that can only lead to defection. I just don’t get it. Where is the product manager? Who is the product manager? I am on a once in a lifetime trip in South America with my A7CR. Processing on the road but converting everything to dng before editing. Angry every time I have to do it. Getting angry enough to move and not go back. Support responded 24 hours after my request asking me questions instead of answering my question. Even when I explained my travel scenario and the dates of travel they responded with a non answer. What is going on? Hello! Are you there?!

The really crazy thing is that the camera comes with a free Sony version of CO (which I don't need). This version does not support the camera either.

happymac I originally came to Capture One when I moved from a lifetime of Canon cameras to Sony...entirely because of the tight and superior relationship CO seemed to have with Sony. I was totally sick and tired of the LR catalog structure and the difficulty of moving between my laptop and desktop systems. With superior raw conversion, amazing color editing and totally portable "sessions" I quickly became a huge fan of Capture One. I know I have personally driven conversion of at least 20 other photographers from LR to CO.  Since then support has gotten nearly useless (and it used to be great) and the subscription model is annoying but I continue to pay the freight for that and now this situation with the A7Cx cameras and total silence. Maybe we need to have a group of loyal customers write to Rafael to get an answer. I wonder if Bjorn Thorup is the product manager responsible for this debacle? I have tried to garner a response on Facebook groups, Twitter and here...still total silence. I wonder if the relationship with Sony has fallen apart and they just don't want to say so. I live in hope that my 500K images in Sessions dont have to be converted to LR but will be if this doesn't get fixed and soon!

I dropped LR&PS to go with Capture One. I was on the fence with DxO PhotoLab software, but they just rolled out support for the Sony A7cR. I may just bite the bullet, and buy the also purchase PureRaw to keep my workflow simple.
I would 100% wait for Capture One if they responded with something...anything.
Even if it was "we are having XYZ issues, we aren't sure when they will be resolved, but we will keep you updated." I'll wait. Ignoring the problem doesn't make the problem go away. It makes your customers go away.

I'm tethering the Sony A7CR via WiFi and it works fine. Just can't get it to tether via USB so it requires a bit of fussing around with the WiFi connection every time you log out but the tethered capture is very quick and seems to be stable.

I'm currently changing the EXIF data to the 7m4, and that works. It's not ideal, but it allows me to process.

While we wait for something...anything from C1.

Thanks Matt. I'm just using the WiFi mode for tethering and it works fine. Wish I could just go with the USB cable but time will tell.

Jon-Not sure how you are even getting the files to be recognized. I'm on Mac, so not sure if that matters. The original files weren't showing up at all.

I haven't had luck on Mac or Windows. I haven't gone so far as to change the EXIF data, though if this extends into December I'll be forced to decide either to abandon Capture One or change the EXIF data for every photo I take.

Definitely not a long-term solution. If this somehow extends into 2024 I fully intend on cancelling my Capture One subscription and moving to Lightroom.

Given that changing the EXIF data is all that's necessary to get them to work (I'll use the A7RV since it's literally the same sensor) it's exceedingly frustrating that we're now over a month from the camera launch and still no support where everyone else seems to have it.
