There is nothing attached to license, for example terms? Type and scope of license?

    No :(

Nothing on that embedded card or the back? While it's possible that everything is reduced to license ID and it dictates silently the version applicable, we can keep looking for the answers.

No, nothing else. The back of the 'map' is just black

I guess that asking support is the only way to go, as I don't recall anyone from sales team visiting community - and these leaflets might be known only to few people in Capture One.

I can't speak to the specific license you have in-hand but I do have experience with one that looked just like that.  I sat it for almost 6 moths and it then activated the version of the software current at the time I activated the license.

You can confirm by completing the form here: https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Select Account, Activation, Payments from the list box.

Accidently completed the form under another option, but it will come to the right person hopefully.

But then it looks good and I can buy it with assurance. The new AI selection looks to good to not have as an option.

Brian Jordan this might still depend on type of license - even if it's permanent with a fixed start point, in old model you might have been still within update window, so you got the latest version, but now it could be only the latest patch of the minor version this license was hardcoded to, so waiting would not change a lot.

Guido please drop us the answer, when you will receive and confirm it.

Marcin Mrzygłocki Hence my suggestion he go directly to the authority.  Only they are able to provide a definitive answer.

I think it's safe to say that there simply isn't any technology in play when you buy such a license to do anything other than the clock starts when you activate it, not when you buy it.

For the clock to start when you buy it, the vendor you bought it from would have to tell Capture One which license you bought and when and cause the clock to start at that point, but there doesn't seem to be any such way of doing that and, that would be an IT development burden on the seller that is likely beyond what sellers want to do.  In addition, the specific package you were buying would have to have a code on the outside that was not the license code, but could be communicated to Capture One and would tell Capture One which license key was inside.

Plus, keep in mind that these licenses even come bundled with cameras in some cases which is again a seller that isn't going to want to do IT integration with Capture One's site just to be able to give away the license with the camera they are selling.

So, the practical solution here for all is that the license starts when you activate it, not when you buy it.  Plus, it's really not any meat off Capture One's plate to start the license clock when you activate it so there's not even any reason for them to require that extra IT development work and tracking.
