How to drop files from being tracked by Capture?
I have noticed that sessions might start listing random images from Output folder (or its subfolders); this is completely unasked for, I use only default Capture folder, never add any other just to avoid this exact confusion of multiple locations. Today one session even grabbed a bunch of files from drive's root that don't belong to it at all. How do I untrack these random files? I can't "trash" them, I want to repair effects of that "greedy curiosity" bug instead.
Edit: I have diagnosed abovementioned "drive root" to be a "favorite folder" and now I wonder, why sessions go around file system and "like" random locations?

They don't. At least not in my experience. You can add a folder to the favorites manually in C1, and maybe after import from a new folder, I don't remember as I never import into a session, I just copy image files into my destination folder with Explorer and use a session.
"listing random images": Maybe you know then discard this info: You can use a session as a file browser using the "system folders" section of the library tool. If you click on any folder in that tool, provided the folder has image files supported by C1, it will create a "CaptureOne" subfolder and Cache and Settings subfolder beneath. That it the "greedy" part of a session, if you like to name it so.
The Settings subfolder contains the .cos and .comask files and these contain all you need on an image or variant level, i.e. all edits incl. manually added metadata from C1.
Maybe not all, not sure about status information like "adjusted" or "exported" but I don't care about this information. You can open the .cos files and try to interpret the xml tags.
This is off-topic here but you have this other post about external renaming, and if you don't need album-image assignments, or favorites, or the abovementioned status information (or something else I forgot to mention or don't know about) then it is (quite) safe to delete the .cosessiondb file and just create a new one in that same location (above "Capture" folder).
Or just having one "agnostic" session which is located anywhere and use the system folders section of the lib tool, or create favorites or album to image assignments. That's what I do. I have a session on my notebook and copy it over to my desk but I can delete the session DB anytime without loosing the information that I need. Maybe this information helps.

The behavior Ihave described is not a bug (this doesn't mean there is none in the version you are using). Untrack favorite folders via the context menu on that folder ("Remove from Favorites"), and Delete the images from (non-smart) albums, if you have them there. Then they also disappear from the "All images" collection.

That's a very good note! Optimistic in the sense I do use albums a bit, but the moment I send the selected images off - they do not matter. I could just create a text file with numbers requested and then filter by numbers if I needed to reuse selection. This could be also a basis for "temporary sessions", where selected images are hardlinked to a new folder with a stub .cosessiondb copied just to speed things up, because generated things like previews would already be there.
I don't visit Library tab that much and obviously don't like how Favorites trigger themselves (a pun is supposed to be there). I will check if just disliking everything will fix things.

I mean, thanks for explanations, how do these images show up on the image list - my question now is, how do I stop Capture One from favoriting or opening folders outside my knowledge and will.

SFA: There are some controls for how "Favorites" connections are to be handled. Take a look in the Preferences tool > General
Good point, I never noticed it.
SFA: In terms of Output files I usually avoid opening the Output folders with C1.
Me too, but sometimes it happens. If your create a subfolder beneath "Output" for your exports then clicking on Output in C1 does not find the jpgs or tiffs, neither does the "All Images" collection, which means it is less likely that one clicks on it inadvertently.
Marcin: I could just create a text file with numbers requested and then filter by numbers if I needed to reuse selection.
Or tag the requested images with a keyword. Or move them to the Selects folder, or to a dedicated subfolder beneath Capture or Selects.
