I owned and used 15.x on Windows 11 for nearly two years and have a nice catalog of images I've been successfully using it with.
With the recent 50% off Black Friday deal, I bought 16.3. I backed up my catalog, then opened 16.3, it prompted me to upgrade the catalog and I gave it permission. After waiting for it rebuild graphics support and the few other startup things that a new Capture One version does when you first run it, I started trying to work in the new catalog. It's so slow that it is completely unusable. When I check task manager, C1 is constantly using 50% of my CPU doing something. After selecting a thumbnail and waiting for several minutes for it to load anything, it finally loads the image. Then, I select a different thumbnail and it never loads anything.
At this point, the program is basically hung. I configure my computer to it won't power off or sleep, thinking that maybe it's trying to do something in the background to upgrade the catalog and I just need it to let it finish that. But, 4 hours later, no change. I try to exit the program. It won't exit. Eventually, I have to kill it in Task Manager.
I try again. Same process repeats itself (except no prompt to upgrade the catalog). I try changing back to legacy previews thinking perhaps it has something to do with that. No difference. I can't find any way to use that catalog in 16.x.
So, I try one last thing. I restart it and don't open the existing catalog. Instead, I create a new catalog and then import about 100 RAW files into it. That seems to work fine.
So ... I'm stuck right now. 16.3 isn't usable on my existing catalog. What to do? Any ideas?
