Can't trial new Pro version

    I'd suggest the following steps:

    1. Login to your account on Capture One's website and deactivate any activated licenses there
    2. Uninstall all copies of Capture One any where on your system.  You don't have to remove existing catalogs.
    3. If you're on Windows, find these two directories:

      C:\users\XXX\AppData\Local\Capture_One
      C:\users\XXX\AppData\Local\CaptureOne

      and rename them to add a .bak extension to the directory name.  If you're on Mac, I think the directories are like this:

      /Users/XXX/Library/Application Support/Capture One
      /Users/XXX/Library/Application Support/Capture_One

      but, since I don't have a Mac, I'm not quite sure that's precisely right, but you should be able to find them in that area.  The rename is to just get any prior configuration or licensing stuff out of wherever Capture One would find it so it doesn't mess up a new install.
    4. Then, install the the new Pro version from scratch (choosing to activate your trial when it asks) and hopefully no prior license stuff will get in the way.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for the very quick response! Before you had replied, I did many (but not all) of your suggestions, and in fumbling around I managed to launch a working trial of the Pro version of 23—and I'm going to wait until the trial period is over and I've bought a license to see what happens. I can't imagine (or rather, don't want to) that software updates with a subscription will be as convoluted. (Fingers crossed.) But—if they are, I will have your suggestions to fall back on.

    The license complication with Capture One occurs when trying to switch types of licenses which are both active (from Express to Pro, for example).  You hopefully won't have that difficulty with future upgrades to Pro.
