Unable to Tether Fuji X series with C1 Mobile
Attempted to tether any of my Fuji X series cameras (X-T2, X-T3, X-T5) to C1 Mobile on my iPad Mini and have had no success. So then I attempted with an iPhone 13 and again no success.
Have submitted a request to C1 Tech Support and still waiting for an answer, as the first response I received made no sense.
At this point, I’ve limited my testing to the X-T2 & the iPhone 13.
Here’s the request I submitted:
Using Capture One Mobile on an iPhone 13 with iOS 17.2.1 and attempting to shoot tethered with a Fujifilm X-T2, Tether Tools cable and an Apple Lighting to USB 3 Camera Reader adapter. The Fujifilm X-T2 and Tether Tools cable work fine on my MacBook Pro, as it always has with previous versions of C1. The MacBook Pro is currently running Capture One 16.3.3.6 Yet, I’m unable to establish a connection between Capture One Mobile and the Fujifilm X-T2 on my iPhone 13 with iOS 17.2.1. Have tried all your support docs without success.
Here’s the answer I received:
Can you please change usb power supply/comm settings(at network/usb setting) to power supply off/comm on? Please let me know if that works for you.
Huh???
So, I have no idea what these settings are or where they exist. They don’t exist in the iPad Mini or iPhone, not in the cameras and not in C1 Mobile. To me they appear to be related to my office network, but I’m on location and connecting the camera to the iPhone via cable, not a network or wireless connection.
Have read all the docs put out by Capture One. Have tried tethering with the SD cards removed, have tried setting the cameras to shoot without cards (with cards in & out). Nothing is working. The Apple Lighting to USB 3 Camera Reader adapter is recognized by both the iPad mini and the iPhone and can recognize devices attached to the adapter, so I know that’s working.
Any ideas, as I’ve asked C1 Tech support to clarify their first response and that request has been sitting in a pile for over six hours?

Have you checked connection settings in camera? Use tethering auto.

Hey Łukasz Gałecki, Yes, that is the required setting with Fuji cameras and is what prompted this discussion and a support request. So, this post is a bit old and my issue here was the response from C1 tech support which was "Can you please change usb power supply/comm settings (at network/usb setting) to power supply off/comm on? Please let me know if that works for you." Which are not settings or terminology found in any of the Fuji cameras.
At this point, this discussion has been moved and can be found here https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/16338421457693-iPhone-iPad-Fuji-cameras-cannot-establish-connection
Capture One has acknowledged the presence of this issue and you can see my suggestions in the third post in the discussion link referenced above.
I'm only encountering this issue with my Fuji cameras (X-T1, X-T2, X-T3, X-T5, X-H1). My Nikon cameras are not experiencing this issue. So, for me it is isolated to the Fujis.

I see. It seemed strange because I have been useing GFX 50s and 100s without any issues so far.

After 2 months, I've finally received an answer on this issue from C1 support as follows: "We have seen that these cameras can connect only if the connection is direct from USB C to USB C with iPhone or iPad". So, in all other cases it appears an auxiliary power supply is required.
In my case I was testing with a Fuji X-H1, X-T1, X-T2, X-T3 and X-T5, the Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter and an iPad mini (4th Gen & 5th Gen).
Fuji started using USB-C with the X-T3 and subsequently on the X-T4 and X-T5; USB-C is also used on the GFX50R, GFX50SII, GFX100, GFX100S and GFX100II
Apple started using USB-C with the iPad mini 6th Generation, whereas the 4th & 5th Gens use Apple Lightning.
NOTE: The Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter and an iPad mini (4th Gen & 5th Gen) work fine with my Nikons without an auxiliary power source.
Next step will be to test the X-T3 and X-T5 with an iPad mini 6th Generation to confirm; this setup will NOT require an Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter. Will keep you posted.

Hi, I will add that GFX 100s connection to iPhone 12 via usb 3 adapter is somewhat unstable. Sometimes I can shoot hundred photos without any issues other time it disconnects just after pressing shutter button. Turning camera off disconnecting it and restarting app fix it.
