Hello Sam Benard, thanks for the feedback!

We're working on making it easier to move files between your iPad and computer and we're also thinking about adding external storage support for iPad, but we don't know when they'll be ready.

What kind of photography do you do and how do you work with your photos?

Excellent news, Evi! I've been making the Shortcuts approach work, with a blank session, but that means regenerating all the previews on desktop, not carrying edits/rate/tags across, and dealing with some general fussiness...but it's worked well enough for me over the last 8 months or so since I moved to running an iPad on location.

DaVinci Resolve's archive option could be a good prototype for how to do this. Hoping that the workflow might end up looking something like:

    1. select a bunch of files (or an album)

    2. select 'Export'

    3. right next to 'Filename', there ought to be an 'Archive' option, with possible options 'session' or 'catalog'

    4. select target folder (anywhere the Files app lets you select--whether it's an external drive, cloud service, network folder, on your iPad, etc).

    5. hit button, watch progress indicator creep across the screen as the folder/.cocatalog gets created

    Hi Evi K

Thanks for letting me know about future plans. I think this is critical to realistically be able to use the ipad a viable transferable tool.

Normally I either shoot straight into Capture One when tethered or load cards in. The structure the sessions accordingly with subfolders. this is where I do the bulk of my editing, selecting and a good portion of my grading pre retouch.

right now I'd love to use the ipad when on the go, then continue the rest of my work on the laptop of desktop for quicker and more efficient work. Btu I'd like a simple solution for transferring all the work I've already done on the ipad to the desktop session.

But right now it seams the only way to have all this work carry over from the iPad is to export EIP files, which seams like a very convoluted way of doing things. Ideally you'd just transfer a session file of some kind that would carry over all your ratings, tags, edits and grading.

Sessions can end up being very large and exporting EIPs just isn't efficient for most.

    Regards,

    Sam
