The latest version of our software, Capture One 16.3.6, is now available for download. The reported issue has been fixed in this new release.

You can download the latest Capture One 16.3.6 here and view the release notes here.

If you experience any difficulty after running this update, then please let me know.

If ever it can help, it seems like it may affect all Z8 and ZF DNG files with C1 16.3.5.10 version, whether it is from stitching panorama, merging HDR or in above case so, denoised ones.

    See https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/requests/222603

For me, it happens even when I try to open an old catalog (created using 16.3.4 or earlier) containing Z8 NEF files.

@... Indeed. Unless Ram refers to a catalog also containing DNG files coming from Z8 or ZF Nef conversion or processing, it may be a different problem.

I can edit one photo at a time, but I can not do HDR merging...if I try it crashes. Using a Nikon Z8 with the new firmware update 2.0 and using sessions

    1. Create a new sessions folder

    2. Import raw Nikon z8 firmware 2.0 photos into folder

    3. Attempt 3 photo HDR merge of photos

    4. CRASH and Send report

    5. Restart

    6. Selected working folder

    7. CRASH

    8. Deleted sessions folder

    9. Recreate remame, import, select for HDR merge and CRASH AGAIN.

    10. PROGRAM WONT RUN OR OPEN AFTER CRASH

    11. Delete session folder, rename, import and able to work single photo. If I attempt a HDR merge CRASH

I have a multi million dollar account to work, photos to process and a deadline to meet. This needs to be FIXED TODAY.

Charlie I can confirm this looks exactly like the bug I already filed last week.

Though, it doesn't seem to be a bug with NEF files, it's most likely a bug with DNG files produced by the HDR process as it goes for any process producing DNG files from Z8 or ZF files at least.

The problem is you won't be able to see those DNG files with the current version (16.3.5) at anytime as it crashes instantly each time you try to reach them.

You can use this workaround : just downgrade to 16.3.4, it will have the same abilities of processing ZF and Z8 (and probably Z9) files but won't crash.

Pierre, thank you. Do you have a link to the down grade version?

Pierre....THANK YOU. The downgrade to 16.3.4.1884 WORK and do HDR merging. You saved my deadline. But I have to ask where are the C1 technicians? The lack of corporate support and the articles written about the shake up ant C1 has me scratching my head.

@... Indeed, it's user-to-user here. BTW, I filed this bug on 9th Feb, it was answered and opened the same day, and I see it has been assigned yesterday to the OP of this thread. As there is a workaround, I bet they will probably embed the correction with next version at best... quite something usual I may say.

Charlie You're most welcome, glad I can help. Though, Sergi Salilas from the team - and whose this bug has been assigned to - wrote the workaround in the original post of this thread, probably to help with the issue while people wait for the correction... so I only rephrased his advice ;)
