tether same file name as camera
hi. so how do we get the cameras file name to be the same as our tethering files?
cause seems pretty silly that if we needed to access the back up images they dont match the card file name??

And which camera - not every brand transmits in metadata the filename it would have used in-camera, maybe none, as even "Original Filename" EXIF field with a different purpose is confused as such due to lack of other fields that could match the desires.

On a different note, this is a (minor) reason why I don't use tethering and instead I have scripted renaming on-the-fly when copying off card; I use my laptop for taking notes on planned names. A major reason to stay away from tethering was for me how slow it is - I cannot request a stop, yet the buffer waiting on USB controller blocks me from shooting.

Hi all. Using the tether feature where capture one has full control . Testing on a z9 Nikon and today’s canon r6 also doesn’t send the file name across .
It’s simply to just have a back up exact copy to the files on the card we’re shooting too. Also we are sharing the shoot via the shared online option so if people had notes from overseas would be good to keep those notes but can’t match the file names0 -
Hi. Yes I’ve been using capture one as my perferred tethering for many years and as a Nikon user , well aware that incamera cards for many years wasn’t an option.
Todays shoot as I was a digitech , we were shooting on a canon r6 in raw and jpeg
Using a Area 51 cable no issues
We also had set up an online share for paramount to view as we shot with no issues
The “back up “ files being written to the external ssd I was capturing too (have for many years) was fine and all. But the issue lies that as the photographer today prefers to have the interval xqd or cf express b card to be written to aswell, the online file names won’t match the internal card.
What ever way we look at it , being either naming the tethered files as we go , they still won’t match anywhere apart from having to sort by date created then remaining and that’s hoping that the camera cable doesn’t fall out or extra files are written while the cable might fall out.Today we had to stop the tethering because the camera locked up and wouldn’t connect
Tried new battery , new cable, new flash sync cable to see if that was buggy and a new internal card. I could fire the camera from capture one but the shutter wouldn’t trigger or focus. And I believe the back of camera light was very active .So two different things there to consider
Hope that made sense

You can backup *.cos files, which are very lightweight, then in case of any failure use the information from these files to match files from card to the expected names.
