Import RAW HEIC photos from iPhone into Capture One 23
I know that Capture One 23 does support the Apple RAW image formats like Apple ProRAW and HEIC.
This may be a stupid question but I don't see any way how to get the RAW images I shot from my iPhone's camera roll into Capture One on my Mac.
When I click "Import From" - "Choose..." there is no way to select my iPhone as the source for the import. There is an entry "Media" - "Photos" that allows me to import photos from the Photos app on my Mac. But this has two problems:
1. I first have to import all Photos from my iPhone into the Photos app before I can import them into Capture One. This an extra step which is tedious and it will duplicate the images unnecessarily. So I have them twice on my Mac.
2. I can only import JPEGs. Whatever image I select, it will end up as JPEG in Capture One. So this obviously does not work.
So how to I import the RAW HEIC images from my iPhone into Capture One?

hey, here's one quick way i do it if you're using iCloud Photos: https://support.apple.com/en-ng/104964

After reading that article, I don’t quite see how that helps and how this is a „quick way“. Maybe I am misunderstanding something. Even when using iCloud Photos I still would need to import the images from the Photos app locally on my Mac, I choose „ Media“ „Photos“ as the source and even though my Photos app does contain the RAW HEIC images when importing them into CO they are magically converted to JPEGs again.
Also when importing via iCloud I still have the images twice on my Mac, in the Photos app and in the CO library.
What I would like to do is:
1. plug my phone to the Mac via a USB C cable
2. Select the phone as the import source in the CO import dialog
3. see and select the photos from the phone and import them as RAW HEIC files.0 -
Schattenrauschen this is a feature request, then. please see New feature, camera, and lens request portal is now open! to create one!
the one way i mentioned earlier is downloading unedited originals in macOS Photos from iCloud Photos and importing them in Capture One:
if you don't use iCloud Photos, i guess the only way is to import the images from your iPhone to macOS to import them in Capture One later, but i might be missing some other way

Thank you!
The last tip was the crucial one, that worked. This procedure to get the files from my phone into CO is quite „hacky“ and tedious though but it is better than nothing.
I will create a feature request.

I do it by getting the images onto my Mac using Image Capture then importing to Capture One.
