50% for update or I wait another year, after all it's just an update, not the whole product, Maybe it's time I tried Lightroom. I could go for $15 subscription if it was forever

Looks like Capture One already started they "Black Friday" deal and it's 30% off  for a PRO Subscription and ALL IN ONE Subscription plans, I don't think they will ever go to  50% off

As a Long time user for almost 10 years, it feels like a Heavy smack in my Face. That pricing is ridicoulus. I‘ll wait until friday to See if there is a reasonable Price That i am willing to Pay. In the meantime i did my homework and looked back to Lightroom, which i left in favor of Capture one 10 years back. They are Running BF Promotion for 70€ a year. This offer is tempting. I will decide on friday. When i am gone, i am gone.

iPad Auto correction sucks. Sorry for the typos.

I don't think they care about old customers, lesson learned from all other software that go subscription before.

I am stuck with many old softwares since most of them go subscription. I really have to charge my customers by recurring payment too if I have to subscription... but impossible, mostly go one time payment. Software Company life is so good nowadays, they just went sub and earn continuously even if without doing any update we still have to pay for using it anyway.

I will wait for Friday till Monday...

Chanase Charoenwongse .. your pricing model should always factor future costs into it .. software subscriptions and updates, camera gear replacements and upgrades, computer replacements and upgrades, insurance, rentals, etc. if you don't already have those things factored into your prices you may not be charging enough.

I bought the perpetual license of C1 for a reason... to not be forced to spend money. If C1 offers 50 % Black Friday discount on perpetual license, I may consider it. But even then I am not convinced. The new features are nice to have, but nothing that I desperately desire.

And if they do not... am I going to switch to competition? Probably not. I just save my money.

I noticed that with perpetual license Black Friday offer goes this time (2024) only through 3rd party shops like B&H

same for me. I am just an amateur photographer, and originally started with the Sony-only version of Capture-One (version 7 or something), and in total I have upgraded three times until (currently) v12.

I'd LOVED to upgrade to the most recent version, but NOT for 300$, which is like 3 times the price of most other photo software's out there.

For a special 50% BF discount on the PERPETUAL license, I would do it, but for no less.
Please, Capture-One team, do not only consider professional photographers but also those amateurs who still would use your software... since there are MANY out there with similar profiles, it's still better to make SOME money out of them, rather than ZERO, by pushing them out of your otherwise great product.
    THANK YOU!!

Both Adorama and B&H has a 33% discount on the perpetual license of Capture One Pro, and a 35% respectively 30% discount on subscription. Cheaper (not cheap, still expensive) than directly from the Capture One website.

Capture One needs to keep their loyal customers, and stop forcing them to leave and choose other tools for editing photos.

B&H is selling Capture One 23. this is an old and outdated version.

The naming scheme changed, we are at version 16.5.x right now

@Walter Rowe I don't have any issue as of now since I don't use subscription.

But my point is normally we usually charge one time payment per job done, I still don't understand why only the software industry is the only one that can do recurring payment for an app.

I do hope perpetual remains, since I do prefer invest in tools not rental one. Many software company now only focus on rental service and it is sad.

I am afraid that Capture One 23 is the 16.0 that out in 2022, prefer the official discount.

I believe that the version you buy at B&H and Adorama both are the current versions due to the fact that you get a license for the latest version to download. It's not a box you get, rather a license. Capture One 23 and 16.5.x is two different ways to say more or less the same version.

What B&H and Adorama are selling is a license key that entitled you to activate the CURRENT version of the software - whatever version is the current version when you download/activate it.  You can buy that key now and activate whatever version is current in 6 months if you want.  Or, you can download and activate the latest 16.5.1 version right now.

Foto Erhardt sells a perpetual Licence for 160 €. Like B&H it is a license key that entitled you to activate the current version of the software. It is quite a good offer.

I decided to buy a one year subscription through Adomara. Cost me $129 for one year.

Had very much preferred ered the same price for a perpetual license with the old rules where you got a full year of updates, but that's history now, unfortunately.

Since I very much prefer the C1 compared with the competitors software, I had to bite the bullet and will stay with the C1 for the year to come.

The combination of C1, Affinity Photo 2, and On1 NoNoise AI 2024 are the only softwares I need for the moment.

Foto Erhardt's offer is the best I have found today (thanks Thomas!).
This morning I bought the perpetual licence for 160€, received the new key,

downloaded the latest version of C1 from the program itself, installed the new version and entered the new key without any problems. The program works perfectly and we have, as always, the possibility of 3 simultaneous installations.
For Spaniards who don't see the point of buying from a German website, Fotografiarte.es also has a good offer, 179€ in this case.

    Thank You Thomas!!

This was exactly what I was looking for.. I also as and amateur (and a boomer) don't want to subscribe to monthly/ yearly version.
