As long as you adopt a referenced catalog with CO (there are other options non available in Lr), you can easily replicate the same workflow you are familiar with.

Are you sure it's possible to relink the top level of a folder structure and have everything below it relink automatically?

I believe I tried this to no avail. It seems I could only relink individual images. In Lightroom it's a piece of cake to match any folder in the offline folders list to its new physical location and have LR realize it's now back online.

Yes, it works similar in CO8. Go to Library > Folders section and right-click the top level folder > Locate.

I'll have to try again when I'm back in front of a computer. Can you relink a subfolder if you've happened to move a subfolder to a new location? I'm fairly certain that works in Lightroom, but again, I'll have to try it live to be sure.

I came from LR about a year ago and changing to CO8 needed some trial and error. This resulted in the following WF:

I'm using sessions every time I come back from a shoot (or tethered shoot). I import in a session, giving it a meaningfull name, select images to the select folder, trashing images that are a complete failure and then start working on the selected images (in the select folder). With the export option I finalize my images for output, they are automatically sent to the session_output folder. After that I import the session with "session import" in a catalogue.

The big advantage of working in a session is you keep all images together: captured, selected, output and trashed are kept together in the session folder. By importing the session in a catalogue the trash folder is ignored, so you don't have the irrelevant images in your catalogue, but.... they are still available in the trash folder, just in case ....
On thing to keep in mind is to have at least one image in the capture folder, otherwise the import won't work. This must be a bug ...

Oh and btw, you don't have to locate your files when working in a session, you can access all your files on your harddisks.
