Phase One Lifetime vs Perpetual C1 20
Hey all,
Like you, seems I'm fairly confused. I had C1 12, used my Lifetime key from purchasing my IQ to upgrade to C1 20, but it seems that it's not Pro, just for Phase? Is that correct? Now that's not a huge issue, but if I have PSD's from retoucher based on IIQ's, then I can't even do the slightest tweak in C1 for exposure, etc.
SO I guess the question is, how do I get C1 20 to turn on these features so I can work with all my files that I did in C1 12!? Do I really need to upgrade twice to get back what I had in C1 12?
Thanks!
J

If you had CO Pro 12, you can upgrade to CO Pro 20 for an upgrade fee.
However, for your IQ files from the Phase One back you could use or have used the free Capture One DB 12 product. This is the same download, and limited to IQ files from Phase One only. It has all the Pro features including tethering to - again - Phase One backs only.
Now, with Capture One 20, all different products (Pro/Pro Sony/Pro Fuji/Express Sony/Express Fuji/all Pro trials) including DB, ehhh, I mean Capture One for Phase One, require a key. For Capture One for Phase One you can, as registered user of a Phase One back, register for a lifetime key for that product.
But that does not help you if you like to work on PSD files in Capture One. You need Pro for that so you need to upgrade Pro from 12 > 20 if you like to upgrade to Capture One 20.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks @paul for clarification...
I guess the $159 upgrade isn't a huge cost, but I would say that since we're converting our Phase RAW to Tiffs/PSDs it does seem a bit out of sort that I can't open or see them using my DB Key.
I don't care so much about other cameras, but these file PSD/TIFF types are important, and C1 does it for hassy files (where you can see the TIff but not the RAW), surely there is a way since the Meta has the Phase camera in it still. Especially when working in catalogs.
Just my two cents to try and make things easier....

For me it works with tiffs when using Edit With ... Photoshop or processing to tiff and having Metadata / Camera Metadata box checked. If this check box is unchecked you can not edit the processed tiff. If checked you can edit the tiff.
Unfortunately this does not work with psds. I think Phase One should change that, so that C1 v20 DB behaves the same for tiffs and psds if you are processing a Phase One DB back file with Metadata / Camera Metadata box checked.0
