    The short answer is No.

I have read that in some cases for data sharing between systems the default and standard colour names are the 'keys' used as an industry standard to share between systems.

On that basis, assuming it still persists, even if an application allowed a rename on screen via an alternative name for sharing metadata the rename would need to link back to the standard name. That sort of limits the benefit, or so it seems.

    I see, but:
    - many/most of other image managing softwares allow it allowing communication between them (for instance LR and PM...)
    - the fact that a red spot means "red" is not very interesting. It would be more useful to personalize it (e.g. approved, selected, rejected, etc) and possibly retrieve the information/tag on other softwares.

Just create the smart albums, where
    - color - red - 'rejected'
    - xx color - 'approved'
    - zz color - 'something else'

Plus you can use it in a combination of many other parameters...
Check PhaseOne youtube channel for Webinar... if you need to see how

    Even more...
You need to setup your personal the Smart Album system once... And just save each os Smart Albums as Presets... to re-use with new Sessions...

Software like FastRawViewer, Lightroom and ACDSee allow you to alter the default label for colour tags. Some even allow you to have multiple sets of colour tag labels.

For two softwares to communicate the colour tag they must use identical tag labels; whether default or not doesn't matter.

As I mentioned above, you can use the Smart Albums for the same purpose. But with much more flexibility...

How do you use the color tags in other programs? To make the selection, based on Color tags? [Smart Albums]
    To export/delete/...?
Set of the Smart Albums "allow you to have multiple sets of colour tag labels"
When you set the structure you comfortable with, just export Session/Catalog as template and re-use it every time when you create new Session/Album

What I do is to make selections (1st choice, 2nd, rejected, etc) on PM as it is a much faster image browser than any other, then based on such pre-selection, I start working/developing the images. At the moment I cannot not do this and smart albums won't help neither.
