Deleted Photos (Where do they go?)
Hi, I've been using Capture 1 for a few months, but still learning the ropes. One thing that's bothering me is where the files go once I delete them. For example, if there's a photo that I under/overexposed and don't want any more, I click on the delta button and it goes away. But it's NOT in the trash can. So that means I can never recover that photo?
I'm coming from Aperture, where I could always find them in the trash can, until I emptied it. Also, I typically import my photos directly into an album. (I haven't used sessions or anything like that yet)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, may be there is a different if you use RAW or JPG, catalog or session. In the last case the ways to delete pics: cmd-back should send them to the trash folder. cmd-ctrl-back should ask you if it shall deleted from disk – then it is lost out of the C1-system. That must not mean from your computer.
Search with finder. If you use a catalog you find the catalog: user/library/application support/capture one – BUT it is the hidden library! Reg., lars0 -
Thank you for your help!! I checked the functionality of what you just said, and nothing ever goes to the trashcan however. Your last suggestion, does in fact tell me that I was going to permanently delete a photo. Other than that, I can't find anything.
Any other help would be greatly appreciated as well.
Side note, I am importing RAW files only.0 -
Try to do exact the same with a raw and look for it step by step. But there are ways not to end in the trash folder. May be... 0 -
If you press the delete key, the photo goes in the C1 Trash folder located under the "Library" section. When you right click on the C1 Trash, it gives you the options to delete from disk or remove from catalog.
Hope this helps0 -

And if you then decide to delete from disk, those images are deleted from the Hard Drive as well - at least on Mac. From Aperture those files were sent to the Computers Trash but not with C1. Delete images from C1 trash deletes images from device as well.

People used to complain that they knew what they wanted when they deleted a file and did not want to have to delete it twice.
Unless, of course, they accidentally deleted it and then expected the Software to know they had made an error and to somehow have saved it so they could recover it.
Perhaps the only logical option is to create a safe back up (or two?) of the original files and put it in a cupboard somewhere (or a fireproof safe) until such time as you are completely sure you will no longer need the backed up files.

Yes, a backup is always a very good idea for that case. 😄0 -
HI, I always capture photos through my Nikon Camera It may happen during editing the files couple of images deleted on MacOS. I didn't know how but I tried another recovery software such as Stellar Photo Recovery which helps me to recover deleted or lost photos on my MacOS. Have any one try this software? I hope get the best result for deleted photos. Thanks!
