Sync edits from laptop to desktop????

A sync feature built into the product does not currently exit.

I do not shoot tethered but I do sometimes use my note book to do photo editing. What I do is download from my card to a new session at my desktop into my normal file structure. I can then work on pictures. If I want to use my notebook I copy the session to my notebook (typically via my backup drive using a temp folder so as to not interfere with the backup). Once I am done working on the notebook I copy it back - replacing the original on my desktop. When I am done editing and the files are all back on my desktop I import the session into my master catalogue.

    I never investigated it fully, but Phase One's EIP file format is a zip that is supposed to have the image file and adjustment file(s) inside. I have only tried EIP (pack/unpack) on my stationary computer and it appears to work as advertised for my Nikon NEFs. Change the file name extension from .eip to .zip and have a peek with your favorite zip-tool if you are curious.

    The purpose of EIP is, if I got it right, to transfer images with their C1 adjustments between sessions on separate computers, see https://help.phaseone.com/cs-CZ/CO7/Out ... ts/EIP?p=1 You may even decide to work with EIP files in a C1 session, you don't have to unpack, but you should to try it first as I am on thin ice here.

    This seems a sound method to me.

    Interesting info - I suspect I might need that one day. I think my moving the session back and forth while slower is easier to keep track of in my head.

    I wonder if you accidentally make adjustments in an image in a session that you already imported into a catalogue, if this could be sued to get the adjustments from the session back in to the catalogue.

    There is another possibility for keeping your session updated. The first copy of the sessions has to move the RAW photos plus the editing. When you move it back and forth you are still re-copying the RAW files that have not changed during the session work. There are programs like "rsync" and "unison" that are designed to keep directories in sync by copying the changes rather than everything.

    For example, I am currently working on a session from a months worth of photos. The whole session is 63 G (around 3500 photos), but the changes only amount to 7 G. So by copying back and forth I will be copying 56G of photos back and forth, even though they are already present. Rsync does a unidirectional update, while unison pays attention to both sides and can tell you which side has changed last. BTW, the way that Capture One implements Sessions make this approach very easy, since the edits for each file are contained in a folder right next to the photos with a format of ./CaptureOne/Settings110/D71_11618.NEF.cos. Presumably Settings110 changes to Settings120 for C1 12.
    The main catalog, 201905.cosessiondb, will also have changed, but in this example the cosession.db is only 17 Mb!

    There are implementations of "rsync" that offer GUIs for Windows and Mac. I can't help you with that since I don't use them.
