JPEG Workflow Feature Request
With Capture One jpeg conversion has no preview.
There is no way of quickly previewing various settings.
This is a limitation in that the whole point of jpeg is to create efficient compressed files while still
obtaining the desired image quality. The ideal compression is often very different between images.
That is why a jpeg conversion with realtime interactive preview is so useful.
Good quality jpeg with optimal compression is possible with Capture One, but without interactive preview
it's a hit and miss process when wanting to obtain the best file size and image quality combination.
Lightrooms jpeg export is similarly limited.
Here is what would be nice in Capture One.... possible pipeline.
Have an option of export with preview.
Capture One first scales the file and then generates a small range of different compressions.
Opens them in the browser and main window.
Choose the ideal one and it is saved to the jpeg export path while the others are trashed.
This could be done using most of what is already in Capture One with "just" a routine to export a range of jpegs to a Capture One folder, auto import them to "preview them" (sort of a smart collection), deliver by moving the chosen file and purge the unwanted images. The "smart collection" should then delete itself.
You could also give the user a quality range. Two cursers in the jpeg quality slider.

Fred,
I moved your post from another thread here because, again, it's not relevant to helping the posed question of the OP. It's a lot of your thoughts on Capture One in loosely based delivery.

I think the observations about JPEG you've made are great, and would be interested to see what others think.
But I have to request once again, that you please either create a post that address' the OP's query or create a new thread to express your thoughts. It's important to keep the forum on task.
Thank you.0
