Constant Crashing 20
I've seen a few reports from months ago about constant crashing - but is anyone else still having major issues with this? C1 20 crashes sometimes up to 5 or 6 times a day with me in various circumstances. I can be cropping, navigating, using a layer - anything. Even reopened a minimised window yesterday and the program crashed.
I've turned the graphics card ability off and on and there's no improvement. It was crashing before the last update, 20.2 I think - but since the update its worse.

Hi Jamie,
You could try to uninstall/reinstall the software. Some troubles appeared to me once, and reinstalling the software solved the problem.

Jamie: This won't be a lot of help but I'm running pretty much the same Mac and Capture One 20.2 and I don't have that many crashes. It does crash occasionally, but maybe every two or three days. Not multiple times per day. If my computer is on, CO is running.

Thanks @Tom - I'm yet to give tenmangu81's suggestion of 'reinstalling the software' a go (been too busy) but I am very much the same with, 'if my computer is on, CO is running'. I have the occasional day where it doesn't crash but once it starts, it doesn't seem to stop.

I have the same problem (iMac, Catalina, CO 20.3). My Mac is crashing whenever I try to make an adjustment to a picture (resize, "Curve", etc.)
I've contacted the help desk and their suggestion was to make a clean installation, which I did. But the problem is still there

@V Comparada - is it worse since 20.3? I haven't updated to that just yet, so am still running 20.2 - I'm wondering if I'm better off staying on my version for the time being.

@Jamie - Just the same!

The other option if to try turning off Hardware Acceleration in the Preferences to see if that stops the crashes.
There seem to be some issues with GPU drivers for some reason.
If that solves the crashing problem you may be left with that until some future Mac OS update or C1 finds a way aroujnd whatever the problem is,
For Windows there is the option to go and find a driver that works for the GPU installed but I am told that is not an option for Mac users.

It was the first thing I did, but unfortunately it didn't work

I did the same thing when the crashing began - didn't work.

Try this. Find with "Activity monitor" all the processes related to Adobe (even if you have no Adobe program running some processes are) and terminate them. It seems to work for me. No more crash, so far.
If it works for others, it could be a solution, not a coincidence

@V Camparada - I did this a couple of days ago, I had no idea how many Adobe background programs were running. You may be onto something, because I shut down, Creative Cloud and when its not open, it doesn't seem to crash. Not sure what the difference is, but maybe the Adobe background tasks are causing some kind of conflict. Thanks for your suggestion!

Hey @Jamie Auld! I was wondering if you were still having the crash issues after shutting down Adobe? I am working on fixing the same problems right now and wanted to see if it worked for you. Adobe is a beast! I already had auto update & sync turned off and rarely even launch Lightroom or Photoshop. I should just uninstall it all but so many associates use them, I feel like I have to keep them on hand. I am going to shut down the Adobe tasks, turn off Creative Cloud auto launch at startup and re-install CO, hopefully that will stop the incessant crashing. Any additional Adobe things I should get rid of?
MacPro 2013 up to date Catalina CO 20 v13.1
Thank you!

Hey @Lisa,
Unfortunately, I do still have issues with C1 crashing since I removed Adobe, but no where near as frequently. However, I've had only one day with the recent update where it has crashed continually but I do still get crashes every few days, especially if I'm doing a lot of indepth editing - like brushing, masking, healing brush etc. I do find the computer is generally more responsive and moving through C1 and other editing programs are slightly faster since removing the Adobe set up and I personally haven't noticed a change to my workflow since getting rid of them.

I have had issues not with crashing, but C1 randomly slowing down to a near crawl, to the point where I would need to force quit. It is also randomly producing garbled previews -- anybody else having these issues? Running 2015 iMac, Mojave, 32GB, AMD Radeon R9 w/ 2GB. The issue started with v12. I spent hours with C1 tech support over course of weeks, no solution. I tried the C1 20 beta, appeared to make the problem go away. Now it's back with the most recent update. I really like C1 compared to the other apps (have tried luminar and lightroom/PS since losing Aperture support), but I can't use it with the current instabilities. I'm an enthusiast, not pro, so fortunately I don't rely on C1. I'm not a fan of the LR interface, but that's now what I'm stuck using. Hope they get this worked out.

My Dell XPS 8930 computer startup wouldn't fully boot. After running every diagnostic program, had to factory reset. $200.00. Computer working for one week. Reloaded Capture One. Computer crashes next day. Had 2 IT guys on it. Working from safe mode. Removed Capture one. Working fine. Also doesn't recognize the original computer when reloading from link. Had to cancel subscription and then reload. Was thinking I was adding on a new computer.

Gary,
A couple of thoughts.
This seems odd unless there is some obscure Windows 10 compatibility problem or maybe a driver issue somewhere.
However, you have posted in the Mac thread and you may not be getting a useful response from any Windows user who has seen something similar.
My old Dell Precision running WIn 7 had no such problems other than the occasional update for windows, gpu driver or, very rarely, C1 when something seemed to go awry. Never for long.
My new Precision running Win 10 seems fine.
If you substantially change the system - install a new drive for example - the licensing system, as is the case with many other full-time online checking systems, may understand the system to be "unknown".
You can de-activate if you need to move the installation from one system and install it on another.
You also may want to consider creating a Support Case with the C1 team using the "Submit a request" option that can be found at the top of this page. Assessment of the Logfiles may offer some guidance about recurring problems.
I hope this helps a little.

My Microsoft Surface lap top runs Capture One fine excluding all those syntax errors I get in the startup log data page that I cant seem to clear out. I have an open ticket I believe on this problem. I spent weeks of aggravation trying to figure this out and canceling photo shoot. The first time I believe I updated Capture One. Second time, I definitely loaded up latest version.

Capture one started crashing yesterday while exporting files. I had to force the shutting down of the Mac twice. It's a disaster since I need it for work. I tried to reinstall but nothing changed. It runs on Catalina but until yesterday afternoon it didn't give such problems. What are the options?

I am using the trial version of C1 v21, and am unable to locate the 'Hardware accleration' option in Preferences, can someone guide me to it?

General tab, middle of the window. On my machine...

Setting it to NO/ NEVER or so, both, not Auto, and it worked ok on my Mac.
Since C1-21 14.2+, I believe, or C1-21+ 14.3 it works again (Auto) with MacBook, Catalina and Big Sur.
If you see a difference is another question.
